The road race in the heart of Capolona, in the Casentino valley
La Stincata is the new road race in Capolona, a town of just over five thousand residents in the Province of Arezzo, nestled along the Arno river at the edge of the Casentino in Tuscany. The event takes place on a 6.5-kilometer urban circuit that winds through the town center, crossing streets and squares to offer participants a unique blend of sport and local atmosphere.
La Stincata is closely tied to the Stinco Festival, the most anticipated gastronomic event of the Capolona summer, organized annually by the Pro Loco Il Ponte with the support of the Municipality of Capolona. The race is part of the festival program, serving as its sporting highlight: after the effort of the race, athletes and spectators alike enjoy the convivial spirit of the town among the food stalls, music, and traditional Tuscan dishes, most notably the slow-cooked pork shank.
The first edition, held in June 2026, attracted nearly 200 athletes, with 161 finishers in the competitive race, joined by numerous participants in the non-competitive event and the young runners in the youth categories. This success in turnout and participation laid a solid foundation for future editions, confirming Capolona's ambition to establish itself on the Arezzo running calendar.
La Stincata is more than just a race: it is a way to discover an authentic corner of the Casentino, a land of Romanesque churches, forests, and rural traditions. Capolona, located between Arezzo and the first hills of the Casentino, offers participants the chance to combine athletic activity with the discovery of a village where festivities, running, and local cuisine merge into a single experience.
La Stincata debuted in Capolona on June 5, 2026, as part of the Stinco Festival program organized by the Pro Loco Il Ponte. The race took place on a 6.5-kilometer urban circuit in the town center and attracted nearly 200 athletes, with a large turnout of spectators.
In the competitive race, 161 runners crossed the finish line, joined by participants in the non-competitive event and young runners in the youth categories, which were highly contested and full of excitement.
The race took place during the Stinco Festival in Capolona, organized by the Pro Loco Il Ponte, featuring food stalls and dance evenings throughout the festival days.
Victory for Michele Pastorini (G.P. Parco Alpi Apuane) in the men's race, ahead of Lorenzo Mori (U.P. Policiano) and Alessandro Fazzi (Filirun Team). In the women's category, success for Giulia Sadocchi (U.P. Policiano), followed by Noemi Trippi (U.P. Policiano) and Dejanira Rodriguez (Filirun Team).
Capolona is located along the regional road 71 of the Valdarno and Casentino, about 15 kilometers from Arezzo. By car, it is easily reached from the Arezzo exit of the A1 motorway, then continuing towards the Casentino. By train, it is served by the Arezzo-Stia railway line (Trasporto Ferroviario Toscano) with the Capolona station.
Race registration and program information are managed by the Pro Loco Il Ponte Capolona, which organizes the event in conjunction with the Stinco Festival. For details on times, the route, and how to participate, we recommend checking the official Pro Loco social media channels.
Combine the race with the Stinco Festival, which brings Capolona to life for several days with food stalls and dance evenings: the perfect opportunity to refuel with traditional Tuscan dishes after the race.
