The night dedicated to love in the village of Montefeltro
Every year, at the beginning of summer, the small village of Frontino, in the province of Pesaro and Urbino, adorns itself with soft lights, hearts, and lanterns to welcome La Notte Romantica nei Borghi più Belli d'Italia. Perched at over 600 meters above sea level among the hills of Montefeltro, in the heart of Marche, Frontino is one of the smallest municipalities in the region and is part of the prestigious circuit of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy: a perfect setting for an evening designed for couples, but also for anyone who loves intimate atmospheres and authentic historic centers.
La Notte Romantica is a national event conceived and promoted by the Association 'I Borghi più Belli d'Italia' (The Most Beautiful Villages in Italy), chaired by Fiorello Primi. It is held annually at the end of June and involves nearly 200 villages throughout Italy, attracting a total of around 500,000 visitors. The philosophy is one of slowness and wonder: for one night, historic centers transform into open-air stages, with soft music, street artists, dinners under the stars, exhibitions, and dances in the piazza.
In Frontino, the evening traditionally takes place within the walls and gardens of the village, enveloped in soft lights, hearts, lanterns, and romantic details. In recent editions, the heart of the celebration has been a candlelit dinner in the village gardens, accompanied by live music: in 2025, Sara Minelli performed with a piano and voice repertoire. The detailed program for the 2026 edition, including times, menus, and musical guests, will be published by the Municipality of Frontino and the Pro Loco in the weeks preceding the event.
As in all participating villages, the most anticipated moment arrives at midnight, with the famous collective toast and the midnight kiss, accompanied throughout the national circuit by the release of thousands of biodegradable balloons. Many village restaurants also offer the event's official dessert, the Pensiero d'amore (Thought of Love), created by peasant cook Ilaria Salvadori.
The date for the 2026 edition in Frontino is confirmed for Saturday, June 20, 2026, as reported by the village's tourist website and the official list of the Association 'I Borghi più Belli d'Italia', which includes Frontino among the participating municipalities in the Marche region.
At present, the detailed program (times, candlelit dinner menu, musical guests) has not yet been published: it will be released by the Municipality of Frontino and the Pro Loco in the weeks preceding the event. Based on recent editions, one can expect an evening in the gardens and alleys of the village, with soft lights, live music, and the traditional moment of the toast and midnight kiss shared with all the villages in the circuit.
