A fair for another economy
Born in 2004 from a network of local associations, L'Isola che c'è is today the main showcase for the solidarity economy in the province of Como. Every year, in mid-September, the Villa Guardia municipal park hosts hundreds of entities — over 180 organizations in recent editions — involved in volunteering, environmental protection, fair trade, organic farming, and critical consumption.
Stands, workshops, music, and food
The fair combines exhibition and participation: alongside stands from associations, cooperatives, and producers, the program includes meetings, debates, seminars, self-production workshops, and tastings. There is also entertainment for adults and children, live music, and catering areas with local, organic, and fair-trade products. Each edition has a central theme: the 2026 edition is dedicated to Living in Connection.
Villa Guardia and the solidarity of Como
Villa Guardia is a municipality in the province of Como, in Lombardy, a few kilometers southwest of the provincial capital. The fair is organized by the L'isola che c'è Association together with a network of local partners (including Ecofficine, CSV Insubria, and Luminanda), created precisely to promote and develop the solidarity economy and conscious consumption in the Como area.
L'Isola che c'è — edition 2026
The 2026 edition — the 22nd — takes place on Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20 in the Villa Guardia municipal park, until 8:00 PM each day. The guiding theme chosen by the organizers is Living in Connection. As every year, the fair brings together over 180 entities from the Como area, with stands, meetings, debates, seminars, self-production workshops, tastings, entertainment for adults and children, music, and catering areas with local, organic, and fair-trade products. Among the integrated projects is the participatory art installation Opera in Rete.
