The Fiera di Sant'Abbondio is the patronal festival of Como, dedicated to the saintly bishop Abbondio, celebrated on August 31st. It is an event with centuries-old roots, deeply tied to the city's identity: every late summer, the Como community gathers around the Basilica di Sant'Abbondio and along the ancient walls to renew a tradition that unites generations.

The ancient agricultural and livestock fair

The most traditional heart of the event is the livestock exhibition, held along viale Cattaneo: horses, donkeys, alpacas, and other animals return to the city for an exhibition that recalls Como's ancient connection to the countryside and animal husbandry. Alongside, the agricultural market and farmer's street food under the walls of Porta Torre offer typical products, traditional dishes "from land and lake," and craft beers.
