Design, art and architecture in the historic palaces of Como
The Lake Como Design Festival is an event dedicated to design, art, and architecture held in the heart of Como, the capital of the homonymous Province in Lombardy. The festival adopts a widespread format: exhibitions, installations, and site-specific setups are distributed in historic palaces, villas, and usually less accessible places, transforming the city into a large open-air exhibition route.
Each edition is built around a concept that guides exhibitions and installations. For the eighth edition, the theme is "Border": not just a dividing line, but a meeting point, a space that defines and connects at the same time. A common thread that the involved artists and designers interpret in works and setups specifically designed for the spaces that host them.
The strength of the festival lies in the dialogue between contemporary design and Como's historical architecture. For 2026, among the new features, the opening of Villa Saporiti, one of the most important neoclassical residences in the city, is planned. The artistic direction is entrusted to leading figures in the sector, with Giovanna Massoni as curator and Francesca Prandelli as director.
The Lake Como Design Festival has contributed to making Como a reference point for design culture, attracting gallerists, collectors, and international visitors to the city and enhancing an architectural heritage that tells the story and identity of the Larian territory.
The 2026 edition, the eighth, revolves around the theme "Border", understood not just as a dividing line but as a meeting point that defines and connects. The festival offers exhibitions and site-specific installations distributed in historic venues in Como and on the lake, with the opening of Villa Saporiti for the first time. The curation is by Giovanna Massoni, and the direction by Francesca Prandelli.
The detailed program of exhibitions, installations, and meetings will be published on the official website lakecomodesignfestival.com in the weeks preceding the festival.
