A concert rooted in the traditions of Truden

The Kirchtagskonzert zum Hl. Blasius is the most anticipated musical event of the winter in Trodena nel parco naturale (Truden im Naturpark), a charming German-speaking municipality in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige. The concert is organized by the Musikkapelle Truden, the local village band, and is closely tied to the local Kirchtag, the patronal feast dedicated to Saint Blaise (Hl. Blasius), traditionally celebrated in early February.

The Musikkapelle Truden

With a history dating back to 1840, the Musikkapelle Truden is one of the village's oldest and most iconic institutions. Today, it boasts nearly 50 musicians and enriches community life with its regular events: the main annual concert for the Kirchtag, summer outdoor performances, the Christmas carolling, and the feast of Saint Cecilia (Cäcilienfeier), the patron saint of musicians. The Kirchtagskonzert serves as the Jahreshauptkonzert, the showcase concert where the band presents the repertoire prepared throughout the winter.

The Kirchtag and the Feast of Saint Blaise

In South Tyrolean culture, the Kirchtag is the feast of the parish church's patron saint, a moment that blends religious observance with village life. In Truden, the patron saint is Saint Blaise, and the band's concert is the most cherished secular event, filling the Vereinshaus (the community hall) with locals, families, and brass music enthusiasts.

The Program

The Kirchtagskonzert repertoire typically alternates between traditional Alpine marches and polkas and modern symphonic pieces and soundtracks, offering a varied and accessible evening for everyone. The concert is usually held on a Saturday evening at the Truden Vereinshaus, starting around 8:30 PM, with free admission. It is also an ideal opportunity for visitors to the Monte Corno Nature Park (Naturpark Trudner Horn) who wish to discover the living culture of one of the most authentic villages in the Bassa Atesina region.

Location

The event takes place in Trodena/Truden, at the local Vereinshaus. The municipality is part of the Monte Corno Nature Park area and can be reached from the Bassa Atesina by driving up from Egna/Neumarkt towards the Truden plateau.
