King of Moena is the stage held in Moena, in the province of Trento, as part of the broader King of Dolomites circuit—one of the most original photography contests dedicated to off-piste skiing and mountain activities. Established in 2017 in the 'Pearl of the Dolomites', the event has successfully transformed a passion for freeriding and outdoor photography into an appointment recognized far beyond the borders of Val di Fassa.

A contest brought to life by images

The formula for King of Moena is simple and engaging: participants recount their adventures on the mountains surrounding Moena through photographs, which are then shared on Instagram profiles using the official event hashtags, including #KODMOENA. The images, portraying descents, landscapes, and athletic feats among the woods, gullies, and Dolomite ridges, are evaluated by a jury and showcased during the event.

The KOD Photo Expo and the awards ceremony

The highlight of the event is the KOD Photo Expo, an exhibition set up in Piaz de Sotegrava, in the center of Moena, where the finest photographs are presented in large format. Visitors can admire the shots, vote for their favorite images, and participate in side events, while the day culminates with the awards ceremony for the King of Moena and the festive atmosphere that enlivens the village. The Moena stage serves as a qualifier within the King of Dolomites circuit, which features its most prestigious event at the Grand Finale in San Martino di Castrozza.
