A day of dialogue, community, and inclusion at Parco Mariambini in Empoli
The Kindness Fair is a free event that brings the Parco Mariambini in Empoli, in the province of Florence, to life in the heart of Tuscany. Born from an idea by local volunteers and associations, the festival dedicates an entire day to a simple yet powerful theme: kindness as a driver for community, inclusion, and mutual care. The slogan accompanying the initiative, The true revolution starts here, summarizes the spirit of an event that aims to be a celebration, a collective reflection, and an opportunity for citizens, associations, and institutions to meet.
The day is designed to engage people of all generations. The morning is dedicated to Kind Tables, moments of dialogue, games, and discussion where participants contribute to drafting a Kindness Manifesto, a shared document gathering ideas and proposals for a more welcoming city. In the afternoon, the park fills with stands from local associations, featuring workshops, activities, and offerings designed for children, families, and adults.
One of the most anticipated moments is the presentation of the Kindness Award, a recognition given to individuals who have distinguished themselves through acts of thoughtfulness, generosity, and active citizenship. Candidates are nominated by the citizens themselves through the event's official website, in a participatory process that makes the community the protagonist of the selection. The evening ceremony is enriched by performances and entertainment that close the day in a festive atmosphere.
The Kindness Fair is not just a symbolic event. The festival is, in fact, an opportunity for concrete gestures of solidarity toward the local area: among the most significant initiatives is the inauguration of new vehicles and equipment for local volunteer and healthcare services, a tangible sign of how kindness can translate into real help for the Empoli community.
The event is born from the collaboration between the Centro Aiuto Donna Lilith of the Pubbliche Assistenze Riunite of Empoli, Pensieri di Bo' Cultura e Teatro APS, and the Associazione Culturale D.I.V.A., with the patronage of the Municipality of Empoli. A virtuous example of networking between third-sector entities that, by combining cultural, social, and healthcare expertise, provides the city with an appointment capable of uniting civic engagement and participation.
The second edition of the Kindness Fair was held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Parco Mariambini in Empoli, with free admission. The day began at 10:00 AM with the Kind Tables, moments of dialogue, games, and discussion to build the Kindness Manifesto, accompanied by entertainment from the magician-comedian Kagliostro. From 4:00 PM, the park hosted stands, workshops, and activities from local associations. At 6:30 PM, the inauguration of the new ambulance for the Pubbliche Assistenze Riunite took place, dedicated to the memory of Loriano Bagnoli, followed by a procession through the city streets. In the evening, at 9:30 PM, the presentation of the 2026 Kindness Award closed the event.
