The Saint Louis College of Music event at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome
Jazz Factory is the annual event hosted by the Saint Louis College of Music, Rome's historic music school, which transforms the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone into a stage for the new generation of jazz musicians every year. Held in the Flaminio district, the evening celebrates the creativity of the students and the vitality of contemporary Italian and European jazz.
At the heart of the event is the Saint Louis Big Band, an ensemble of over twenty musicians including horns, a rhythm section, and vocalists. The orchestra performs original compositions and arrangements written by students of the two-year Master's program in Jazz Composition and Arrangement. It is a project that blends research, teaching, and artistic production, offering young talents the opportunity to conduct their own works in front of an audience at one of Europe's most prestigious auditoriums.
Jazz Factory is designed as a creative laboratory where ideas take shape and sounds transform into emotions. Each edition highlights new composers and arrangers who take the podium to lead the big band through their own pieces. The artistic direction entrusts the evening to established masters, who introduce the concert before passing the baton to the young authors. The event thus acts as a bridge between tradition and innovation, fostering new visions for jazz music.
With Jazz Factory, the City of Rome and the Lazio region reaffirm their commitment to world-class live music. The Auditorium Parco della Musica, designed by Renzo Piano and named after maestro Ennio Morricone, is one of the capital's main cultural hubs: hosting the Saint Louis project here provides national visibility to the school's educational and artistic work. The event is a must-attend for jazz enthusiasts and those looking to discover the stars of tomorrow.
