The over-40 Italian championships for table tennis at the Palazzetto dello Sport in Salsomaggiore Terme
The Italian Master Table Tennis Championships are the main national event dedicated to amateur and veteran table tennis players. Organized by the Italian Table Tennis Federation (FITeT), the championships award the national titles reserved for Master athletes, i.e., age categories ranging from Over 40 up to Over 80. For the 2026 edition, the chosen venue is the Palazzetto dello Sport in Salsomaggiore Terme, located at Via Ugo La Malfa, in the province of Parma, Emilia-Romagna.
For five days, the sports hall transforms into an arena with dozens of game tables set up simultaneously. Approximately 500 athletes are expected from all over Italy, accompanied by officials, coaches, and family members: numbers that make the event one of the most attended sporting events of the year for the Municipality of Salsomaggiore Terme. The Master format enhances the competitive spirit but also the camaraderie, with challenges pitting past champions against long-time enthusiasts.
Famous for its thermal baths and the Art Nouveau elegance of its historic buildings, Salsomaggiore Terme has been a prime location for Italian table tennis events for years, thanks to its spacious facilities and good hotel capacity. The event is held under the patronage of the Municipality of Salsomaggiore Terme and represents an opportunity to combine the passion for sport with the discovery of one of Emilia-Romagna's most renowned spa towns.
The 2026 Italian Master Championships animated the Palazzetto dello Sport in Salsomaggiore Terme for five days. In the early days, numerous national titles were awarded in singles and doubles, before the grand finale dedicated to team events.
