Every year, at the end of August, Piazza Roma â the elegant square that opens onto the facade of the Military Academy, in the heart of the Municipality of Modena, in Emilia-Romagna â is covered with sand and transformed into a beach volleyball court with grandstands around the central court. An idea that combines high-level sport and the enhancement of the historic center, and which has already won over the public in its early editions.
A Stage on the World Circuit
The 2026 edition marks a significant leap in quality: the tournament enters the world Beach Pro Tour calendar as a Futures category event, the entry level of the top international beach volleyball circuit. Compared to the past, when the event was an international men's competition under the WEVZA umbrella, 2026 broadens the horizon with both men's and women's participation, opening its doors to athletes from multiple continents.
Two Courts, a City Celebrating
The main court remains the star in Piazza Roma, while qualification matches and warm-up courts are located at the Mutina Beach facility on Via Cassiani. For the 2026 edition, the grandstands will grow to accommodate about a thousand seats, and a giant screen placed outside the structure allows spectators to follow the matches even if they can't find a seat in the stands, extending the tournament atmosphere to the entire square.
More Than Just Sport
A true event village comes to life around the courts: a food area with food trucks and local specialties, a tasting stand for typical Emilian products, evening DJ sets, entertainment, and activities for children and families. The 2026 edition of the Mutina Center Beach Volleyball Event, scheduled from Thursday, August 27 to Sunday, August 30, 2026, in Piazza Roma, Modena, marks the tournament's entry into the world Beach Pro Tour as a Futures stage. The format includes group stages in the early days and knockout rounds on the weekend, with the presence of international men's and women's pairs.
The grandstands for the main court will increase to about a thousand seats, and an external giant screen will allow matches to be followed from the square as well. Around the courts, a food area, DJ sets, and family activities will liven up the event. The detailed match schedule, times, and list of participating pairs will be announced by the organization in the weeks preceding the event on the official channels.
