The traveling street food festival in Piazza Don Salvatore d'Angelo
International Street Food is the largest traveling festival dedicated to street food in Italy: dozens of stops that, season after season, cross the peninsula, bringing cuisines, aromas, and traditions from all over the world to local squares. In the Municipality of Maddaloni, in the province of Caserta, this event has become a summer tradition, transforming Piazza Don Salvatore d'Angelo—formerly Piazza della Pace—into a large open-air village of taste, with free admission.
In 2026, Maddaloni hosted the 52nd stop of the 10th edition of the event, from Friday, June 26th to Sunday, June 28th. The official inauguration took place on Friday at 6:00 PM, attended by Mayor Andrea De Filippo and Councilor Caterina Ventrone; on Saturday and Sunday, the food area operated continuously from 12:00 PM until midnight. The formula is the tried-and-tested circuit model: no entry ticket, just an open square where you can stroll among the food trucks, sample dishes, and sit at communal tables.
The heart of the Maddaloni stop is variety: alongside Campanian specialties, you will find regional Italian cuisines and international offerings. Among the dishes announced by the organizers:
In Maddaloni, the International Street Food festival blends with the sports festival organized by local associations, which is what makes this stop unique compared to others on the tour. Over the three days, the square hosts soccer, basketball, beach volleyball, beach padel, and foot-tennis tournaments, boxing exhibitions for adults and children curated by A.S.D. Boxe Maddaloni Team Ventrone and the Boxic Team, discussions on the topic of bullying, and performances by the local Youth Forum. The Sunday finale is dedicated to the Partita del Cuore, a charity match played in memory of Antonio Zamo.
The event is organized by A.I.R.S., the Italian Association of Street Restaurateurs presided over by Alfredo Orofino, in collaboration with Confartigianato Imprese Caserta, the provincial OPES committee of Caserta, the A.P.S. Castrum of Maddaloni led by Fabio Cembrola, and the Youth Forum, with the patronage of the Municipality of Maddaloni.
Maddaloni joined the national circuit early on. In 2023, the city hosted a stop in Piazza della Pace, and in the spring of the following year, it held the 39th stop of the eighth edition, from May 3rd to 5th, 2024, with a turnout that earned the Maddaloni square a reputation as one of the most popular stops on the entire tour. In 2025, the summer street food event moved to the municipal park under the name Maddaloni Sport & Street Food Experience, before the return of the international brand in 2026.
Overlooking the Terra di Lavoro plain and dominated by the castle that towers over the historic center, Maddaloni is one of the most populous cities in the province of Caserta. Nearby are the Ponti della Valle, the monumental Carolino Aqueduct designed by Luigi Vanvitelli to supply the Royal Palace of Caserta, both of which are UNESCO World Heritage sites. In a Campania where street food is a daily practice—from pizza a portafoglio to fried cuoppo—a festival that showcases cuisines from half the world also becomes a way to measure how alive that tradition is and how capable it is of engaging with the rest of the world.
The 2026 edition brought to Maddaloni the 52nd stop of the 10th edition of International Street Food, the traveling festival of A.I.R.S. presided over by Alfredo Orofino. Piazza Don Salvatore d'Angelo was transformed for three days into a village of taste with Italian and foreign cuisines, desserts, and craft beers.
On Friday, the opening was preceded by the gathering of participants at 5:30 PM and the official inauguration at 6:00 PM, with Mayor Andrea De Filippo and Councilor Caterina Ventrone; on Saturday and Sunday, the gastronomic area operated from 12:00 PM to midnight. Alongside the trucks, there were soccer, basketball, beach volleyball, beach padel, and foot-tennis tournaments, boxing exhibitions for adults and children, discussions on bullying, and performances by the Youth Forum. The stop was also featured on the program Il Trono del Gusto on Rai 2.
