The festival of greenery, science, and shared beauty in the heart of Comiso
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
INNESTO – Urban Weavings is the event that, starting in late May, transforms the historic center of Comiso, in the province of Ragusa, into a vast, widespread garden. Established in 2024, the festival is dedicated to greenery, floriculture, and environmental sustainability, viewed as a shared value and an opportunity for growth for the entire community. Streets, alleys, and historic squares – from Piazza Fonte Diana to Piazza delle Erbe – are filled with flowers, plant installations, and ephemeral gardens, giving the Iblean city a new look made of colors and scents.
The INNESTO program is organized into five major sections that coexist in the heart of the town:
One of the hallmarks of INNESTO is the quality of its cultural programming. Past editions have hosted climatologists, science communicators, agronomists, landscape architects, and food storytellers, all capable of discussing climate, biodiversity, and plant care in a language accessible to everyone. The talks, meetings, and masterclasses make the festival a reference point not only for gardening enthusiasts but also for those curious about science and ecology.
Set in the hometown of writer Gesualdo Bufalino, INNESTO highlights the Baroque architectural heritage of Comiso and its connection to the agricultural landscape of the Iblean plateau. The festival, promoted by the Municipality of Comiso with local support, is an opportunity to discover one of the most evocative centers in the province of Ragusa, Sicily, while strolling through ephemeral gardens, plant markets, and live performances.
The 2026 edition of INNESTO – Urban Weavings does not yet have an official date. Following the first two editions, both held in late May in the historic center of Comiso (province of Ragusa), we await confirmation of the new event dedicated to greenery, science, and shared beauty.
To stay updated on the dates, program, and guests of the 2026 edition, we recommend checking the official website innesto.net and the event's social media channels.
Comiso is located in southeastern Sicily, in the province of Ragusa. By car, it can be reached via the SS115 and the provincial roads from Vittoria and Ragusa. The reference airport is Comiso – Pio La Torre (a few kilometers from the center), while the Catania-Fontanarossa airport is about an hour and a half away. The Comiso train station is connected to the regional line.
Activities mainly take place outdoors in the historic center, with free entry to the paths between installations and the botanical market; reservations may be required for some workshops.
The program and updated details are published on the official website innesto.net and on the festival's social media channels.
