Innamorati di Orvieto is the event that for Valentine's Day transforms the hidden city of Orvieto (province of Terni) into a romantic route. The city, famous for its tuff-stone underground, opens its hypogean sites to couples for a journey of love through caves, wells, and tunnels.
Five stages in the heart of the cliff
The itinerary touches five symbolic places of Orvieto's underground: the Pozzo di San Patrizio, Orvieto Underground, the Pozzo della Cava, the Labirinto di Adriano, and the Sotterranei di Sant'Andrea. Each stage is associated with a symbolic gesture – building, listening, discovering, uniting, dreaming – that accompanies couples along the path.
The Seal of Lovers
Those who complete at least three of the five stages receive the Seal of Lovers of Orvieto, a certificate celebrating the couple's bond with the city. Among the most evocative experiences is «La Luna nel Pozzo», with the «deepest kiss in the world» at 54 meters deep in the Pozzo di San Patrizio. An original way to discover the city and its fascinating underground world.
Innamorati di Orvieto — edition 2026
The seventh edition of Innamorati di Orvieto, titled «I love you from the deep!», was held from February 13th to 15th, 2026. Couples followed an itinerary of approximately 2.7 km (75 m elevation change, 3 hours visit) through the city's five hypogean sites, each associated with a symbolic gesture.
Highlighting the event, «La Luna nel Pozzo»: the «deepest kiss in the world» at 54 meters deep in the Pozzo di San Patrizio, with a tasting of Orvieto DOC wine. On February 15th, admission was free for residents.

How to get there
Orvieto can be reached by train (Rome-Florence line, Orvieto Scalo station + funicular) and by car from the A1 motorway, Orvieto exit. The underground sites are located in the historic center.
Route
The complete itinerary is about 2.7 km long with a 75 m elevation change and takes about 3 hours. A reduced entrance fee is available at the sites with the initiative's credentials.
