About A Christmas for Everyone

"A Christmas for Everyone" is the rich program of holiday events promoted by the Municipality of Ragalna, a small village nestled on the southwestern slopes of Mount Etna, in the province of Catania. For over three weeks, from mid-December to Epiphany, theater, music, workshops, living nativity scenes, family cinema, and moments of conviviality bring the Teatro Palmento Arena and the town squares to life. A calendar designed for all ages, focused on community and sharing, weaving together spirituality, folk traditions, and solidarity initiatives like the social lunch for seniors over 65.

A community Christmas at the foot of Mount Etna

"A Christmas for Everyone" is the Christmas festival that the Municipality of Ragalna dedicates every year to its citizens and visitors. Ragalna is a small town in the Metropolitan City of Catania, in Sicily, nestled on the southwestern slopes of Mount Etna: a location that gives the holiday season a unique atmosphere, between the scent of burning wood and the lights illuminating the town center.

A program for all ages

The program spans several weeks, from mid-December to Epiphany, offering a packed schedule of events spread across the Teatro Palmento Arena, the Palmento Arena Gardens, the squares, and municipal facilities. Theater, concerts, children's workshops, family cinema, and traveling shows alternate to offer everyone the chance to experience the magic of Christmas in a spirit of sharing.

  • Theater and storytelling - Christmas-themed performances, including Charles Dickens' famous A Christmas Carol.
  • Music - Christmas concerts, choirs, and musical moments in the squares.
  • Living Nativity - one of the most cherished traditions, featuring actors and traditional crafts in the village alleys.
  • Family and children - Santa's House, the Christmas train, workshops, and family cinema.
  • Traditions - the lighting of the logs to the sound of bagpipes and zampogna, and the arrival of the Befana for Epiphany.

Solidarity and folk roots

Alongside the performances, "A Christmas for Everyone" maintains a strong social vocation: the traditional social lunch for seniors over 65 closes the calendar, highlighting the community spirit that drives the event. The initiatives involve local associations, the Ragalna church community, and numerous volunteers, in a blend of faith, folk traditions, and culture typical of the villages around Mount Etna.

Why attend

For those visiting the province of Catania during the holidays, Ragalna offers an authentic, family-friendly Christmas, far from the crowds of large cities. The living nativity, medieval settings, lights, and flavors of the Etna winter make the festival an ideal opportunity to discover a lesser-known but charming corner of Sicilian Christmas.

A Christmas for Everyone — edition 2026

The Municipality of Ragalna usually repeats the "A Christmas for Everyone" program during the holiday period, between mid-December and Epiphany. The dates and program for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced: as every year, theatrical performances, Christmas concerts, the living nativity, children's workshops, and the arrival of the Befana are expected at the Teatro Palmento Arena and in the town squares.

The 2026 edition of "A Christmas for Everyone" has not yet been officially scheduled by the Municipality of Ragalna. Based on previous editions, the event is expected to return during the Christmas holiday period, roughly from mid-December until Epiphany, with events spread between the Teatro Palmento Arena and the central squares. The dates and detailed program will be published on the Municipality's official channels.
