Il Mese di San Giovanni is the main event of Sesto San Giovanni, a city in the province of Milan and the heart of northern Milan. Dedicated to the patron saint San Giovanni Battista, whose feast day is on June 24th, it offers a whole month of events ranging from music to culture, from sport to traditions, organised by the Pro Loco of Sesto San Giovanni in collaboration with the municipal administration.
A travelling and widespread format
The characteristic of Il Mese di San Giovanni is its travelling nature: the events are not concentrated in a single square but spread across the various neighbourhoods and historic villas of the city — from Villa Mylius to Villa Visconti d'Aragona — involving citizens of all ages. This choice enhances the city's heritage and brings the festival closer to everyone.
Music, awards, and tradition
The calendar alternates book presentations, light music and jazz concerts, guided tours, exhibitions, civic awards such as the Sesto d'Oro and the Premio Selezione Bancarella, up to the Fiera dei Mercanti (Merchants' Fair) and the final Total White Party in Piazza Oldrini. The religious dimension is not forgotten, with Holy Mass in the church of San Giovanni Battista. A month that tells the soul of Sesto San Giovanni, between memory, community, and celebration.
