Old-fashioned games, workshops, and associations in the Adriano district
The Festa di Quartiere Adriano, titled Dove?, is a community event in the Adriano district, at the north-eastern edge of Milan, in Municipality 2. It takes place between Largo Bigatti and the spaces of Cascina San Paolo (via Trasimeno 41), two symbolic locations for the social life of a young area undergoing significant urban transformation.
The heart of the festival is the revival of traditional games from the past: as the organizers explain, the idea is to dust off the games people used to play years ago to have fun together, involving both young and old. Alongside the games, there is space for craft workshops, with a dedicated table for those who love knitting and crochet, fostering a climate of sharing and exchange between generations.
Various local organisations participate in the festival with information stands. The Casa della Carità (House of Charity) is present with its own booth and brings its Biblioteca del Confine (Border Library) to Cascina San Paolo, featuring L'Eco delle Storie (The Echo of Stories), readings in various languages for children aged 3 to 8. This is a way to intertwine play, reading, and multiculturalism, values that characterise a neighbourhood inhabited by families from diverse backgrounds.
The event is promoted by the ViviAdriano Association, Cascina San Paolo, and Ecate Cultura, with the patronage of Municipality 2. More than just a moment of leisure, the festival serves as a showcase for the associations in the Adriano district and an opportunity to strengthen neighbourhood ties in an area of Milan that has grown rapidly in recent years and is still seeking places and occasions for meeting.
