Il Grillo Parlante Festival

A festival dedicated to young audiences in Trentino

The Il Grillo Parlante Festival is a well-established fixture of children's theatre in the Trentino-Alto Adige region. Founded in 2007 in the Municipality of Civezzano, in the Province of Trento, the event brings some of the best youth theatre productions to the stage of the Teatro Comunale Luigi Pirandello every season, featuring professional companies from across Italy and abroad. Performances take place on Sunday mornings at 10:30 AM, in a format designed for families to introduce children and teenagers to the magic of live theatre.

The seasonal program

The festival showcases a variety of genres and techniques: puppet theatre, street clowning, juggling, balancing acts, acrobatics, and storytelling. Each season features a curated selection of shows tailored to different age groups, from toddlers to teenagers, ensuring there is something for the whole family to enjoy. The concise duration of the performances, typically around fifty minutes, makes them ideal even for first-time theatregoers.

A project by the Civezzano community

Il Grillo Parlante is promoted by the Compagnia Filodrammatica Civezzano, a historic local theatre group, in collaboration with the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Civezzano and the Coordinamento Teatrale Trentino. Its deep roots in local cultural life and its strong bond with the Teatro Luigi Pirandello make the festival a key reference point for theatre education for young people in the area northeast of Trento.
