Three days of flavors, music, and tradition in the heart of the Florentine Mountains
In the heart of the Florentine Mountains, just a stone's throw from the Casentinesi Forests National Park, the small village of Londa (Province of Florence) hosts Il Fusigno d'Estate every summer. This is the summer version of the traditional Fusigno Festival that has animated the town during the Christmas holidays for generations. The term fusigno, in the local Tuscan dialect, refers to a "snack": a name that perfectly captures the spirit of the event, defined by good food, sharing, and a slow pace of life.
The beating heart of the event is its culinary soul. Food stalls offer dishes prepared with locally sourced ingredients, a direct expression of the territory: from the famous Pesca Regina di Londa, a local agricultural presidium, to bardiccio, the typical fennel-spiced sausage grilled over embers and the star of many recipes. Dinners take place right in Piazza della Repubblica, under the stars, in a genuine and popular atmosphere.
Alongside the dining, the program weaves in entertainment for everyone. Evenings are marked by concerts and DJ sets, ranging from Italian and international hits of the 70s-90s to selections dedicated to the music that made generations dance. During the day, there is space for roving Art Workshops by local artists along the lake shores, botanical walks, and guided treks through the trails and bivouacs surrounding Londa.
Il Fusigno d'Estate is part of the Feste Sagge (Wise Festivals) circuit, events with low environmental impact promoted in the municipalities of the Casentinesi Forests National Park, focused on waste reduction and the promotion of local products. The edition is also part of the Florentine Mountain Festival program, which combines art, music, trekking, and nature between Londa and the neighboring villages.
For 2026, Il Fusigno d'Estate returns to Londa from June 19 to 21, confirming itself as one of the most anticipated events of the summer in the Florentine Mountains. The festival, organized by the Pro Loco with local associations, traditionally weaves together farm-to-table gastronomy, live music, art, and nature activities, and is included in the calendar of the Florentine Mountain Festival and the Wise Festivals circuit of the Casentinesi Forests National Park.
Food stalls offer typical valley products, including the Pesca Regina di Londa and bardiccio. Some outdoor activities (trekking, guided walks) may require booking with the Pro Loco.
Londa is located about 40 km northeast of Florence, along the SR70 della Consuma road. By car, it is easily reached from Florence and the Valdarno; by train, the reference station is Contea-Londa on the Florence-Borgo San Lorenzo line, with a connection by bus or car.
The center of the event is Piazza della Repubblica, in the heart of the village; some activities (botanical walks, trekking, Art Workshops) are held along the shores of Lake Londa and in the surrounding area.
Access to the festival and concerts is free. For dinners and tastings, you pay at the food stall counters. Some activities (trekking, guided walks) may require reservations: it is recommended to contact the Pro Loco Londa.
Bring comfortable shoes for walking and arrive early in the evening to find a seat for dinner in the square.
