IGREEN — International Exhibition at the Museo del Fiume

An international exhibition in the heart of the Tevere-Farfa Reserve

IGREEN is an international exhibition project hosted by the Museo del Fiume in Nazzano, a small town in the province of Rome overlooking the Tevere-Farfa Nature Reserve in Lazio. Promoted by BLU Spazio delle Arti and curated by Barbara Pavan, with the patronage of the Municipality of Nazzano, the exhibition took place from March 14 to 28, 2026, bringing together seventeen international artists.

The choice of venue is no coincidence: the Museo del Fiume, housed in spaces overlooking the medieval village of Nazzano, has long documented the river ecosystem of the Tiber and the biodiversity of the reserve. It is a setting that engages directly with the exhibition's theme, allowing visitors to combine their tour of the galleries with a walk through the protected landscape surrounding the village.

Green as a contested term

The conceptual core of IGREEN lies in questioning one of the most pervasive terms in contemporary public debate. Green is the color of vitality, balance, and regeneration, but it has also become the language of a commercial rhetoric that promises sustainability without always practicing it. The works on display navigate this ambiguity: they interrogate the relationship between humans, materials, and the transformation of the planet, without offering easy answers.

The project stems from BLU Spazio delle Arti's reflection on art as a tool for awareness, regeneration, and social transformation. Aesthetic research here intertwines with environmental responsibility and cultural participation, in a line of work that favors the use of recycled, reclaimed, or natural materials.

Seventeen voices, many languages

The selection brings together highly diverse practices: textile art, installations, sculpture, painting, and interdisciplinary research coexist in the museum's halls. Featured artists include Luciana Aironi, Brigitte Amarger, Gudrun Bartenberger, Silvia Beccaria, Silvia Bellu, Lindiwe Bhebe, Susanna Cati, Norberto Cenci, Magdalena Fermina, Monica Giovinazzi, Rolands Krutovs, Naomi Middelmann, Karola Pezarro, Sonia Izn Piscicelli, Liliana Rothschild, Lalla Thord, and Francesca Torchia.

The second chapter of a journey through the planet's colors

IGREEN is the second stage of an exhibition cycle dedicated to the colors of the planet, launched in 2024 with IBLUE, a contemporary upcycling art exhibition that brought together twenty-six international artists at the BLU Spazio delle Arti galleries in Rome. The shift from blue to green moves the focus from water to land, from resource to exploitation, while maintaining the same methodology: an international open call for artists residing or active in the European Union, a selection jury, and a bilingual Italian/English catalog published by Al3vie Editore.

The winner of the selection is awarded a personal project room at the BLU Spazio delle Arti galleries in the autumn of 2026: a mechanism that transforms the group exhibition into a genuine tool for promoting emerging careers.

Nazzano, a village to discover

Visiting IGREEN is also an opportunity to get to know Nazzano, a village of a few hundred inhabitants north of Rome, along the Tiber valley. The historic center gathers around the fortress and offers views of the Sabine countryside; the Tevere-Farfa Regional Nature Reserve, the first protected area established in Lazio, is one of the most popular birdwatching spots in the region. The combination of contemporary art, a natural history museum, and the river landscape makes the visit suitable for families and school groups alike.
