Hortus Ostuni

A botanical fair in the heart of the White City

Hortus Ostuni is the event dedicated to greenery, gardening, and biodiversity that brings the "Sandro Pertini" Municipal Gardens to life along Corso Umberto I, in the center of Ostuni, in the province of Brindisi. Organized by the social promotion association Hortus Puglia, the event has established itself over the years as one of the most anticipated appointments in the horticultural landscape of Southern Italy, attracting visitors and enthusiasts from across the region and beyond.

Two editions per year

Hortus is split into two seasonal appointments: a spring edition (between April and May) and an autumn edition (between late October and early November). In both cases, the Municipal Gardens of the White City transform into a widespread garden, featuring over fifty specialized exhibitors from all over Italy: nurserymen, rare plant collectors, heirloom seed producers, artisans, and organic businesses.

Plants, culture, and sustainability

At the heart of the event is not just the plant and flower market, but a rich program of workshops, meetings, book presentations, cutting exchanges, and botanical consultations. Each edition revolves around a theme: from apiflora to tree archaeology, from ancient fruits to reforestation, and even the ecology of change and the protection of Puglian biodiversity. There is also no shortage of spaces dedicated to sustainable gastronomy and typical local products.

An identity-defining event for Ostuni and Puglia

With its setting among centuries-old olive trees and lime-washed alleys, Ostuni offers a unique backdrop for Hortus. The event is now part of the cultural calendar of the Municipality of Ostuni and contributes to promoting a culture of greenery and sustainability rooted in the farming tradition of Puglia. The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been confirmed: the spring appointment initially scheduled for May has been postponed, and the updated calendar will be communicated by the organizers on official channels.
