About Trinity Festival in Pra

Every year, on the Sunday of the Holy Trinity, the small hamlet of Pra di Roburent gathers around its church to celebrate its patronal feast. It is an event with a strong sense of identity, combining authentic religious devotion with the typical conviviality of alpine villages: a solemn mass, a 'merenda sinoira' featuring mountain flavors, and the cheerful notes of an accordion accompany an afternoon of celebration at 1,014 meters above sea level, on the slopes of Mount Alpet, in the heart of the Monregalese Valleys.

A patronal feast in the Monregalese mountains

The Holy Trinity Festival is the most cherished event for the community of Pra di Roburent, a small mountain hamlet in the municipality of Roburent, in the province of Cuneo (Piedmont). Perched at an altitude of approximately 1,014 meters on the slopes of Mount Alpet, along the Corsaglia Valley, the village thrives primarily on hiking tourism and serves as a gateway to the Mondolè ski area. On the liturgical Sunday dedicated to the Holy Trinity, however, Pra returns to its most intimate and traditional roots, as residents, vacationers, and worshippers from neighboring towns gather around the hamlet's small church.

Devotion and alpine tradition

The heart of the festival is the solemn mass, a liturgical service that has represented the central moment of the celebration for generations. Around this religious rite, the typical conviviality of mountain village festivals is built: the hamlet, with its church square featuring a fountain, a watering trough, and murals under the portico, becomes the meeting point for an entire community scattered across various hamlets and isolated houses.

The 'merenda sinoira' and music

After the service, the festivities continue with the merenda sinoira, an ancient peasant meal that once extended time spent outdoors after working in the fields, and which today has become an opportunity for gastronomic sharing, rich in genuine mountain flavors. Accompanying the afternoon are the notes and joy of the accordion, a symbolic instrument of folk music that recreates the festive and welcoming atmosphere of times past.

Organizers

The event is organized by the Pro Loco Roburent APS, which has always been at the forefront of safeguarding, promoting, and enhancing the historical, cultural, and tourist heritage of this corner of the Monregalese Valleys. The festival is part of the rich calendar of events that bring life to Roburent and its hamlets throughout the year.
