The vintage snowboard and monoski festival on Mont Blanc
Hardbooter's Day is the most lighthearted and nostalgic event of the winter in Courmayeur (Aosta Province). A gathering-day that brings the spirit of 80s and 90s ski and snowboard back to the slopes of the Mont Blanc area: rigid boards (hard boot), monoskis, fluorescent suits, and goggles, in a mix of competition and celebration.
The heart of the event is the competition, divided into several disciplines: men's and women's hard snowboard, monoski, and soft snowboard for children. Alongside timed races, there are more playful challenges: the Water Slide, where participants must cross a water course trying not to get wet, and the "Rabadan" categories with homemade and improvised equipment.
Speed isn't the only thing that matters: the King of Style contest awards the best interpretation of the 80s/90s look, turning the event into a fashion show on the snow. It's this ironic and festive spirit that makes Hardbooter's Day a beloved event for enthusiasts and curious onlookers alike.
The event takes place as the Davide Marciandi Memorial, in memory of a figure dear to the Courmayeur ski community. Organized in collaboration with Courmayeur Mont Blanc Funivie, Hardbooter's Day gathers about a hundred competitors and numerous enthusiasts on the Maison Vieille slopes each year, confirming itself as one of the most charming and iconic traditions of Aosta Valley winter sports.
Hardbooter's Day 2026, in its 19th edition and dedicated to the memory of Davide Marciandi, was held on April 4th on the Maison Vieille slopes (Federica Brignone slope) in Courmayeur. A record edition with approximately 100 competitors, it featured timed races in men's and women's hard snowboard, monoski, and children's soft snowboard, as well as the Water Slide challenge and the King of Style contest.
