About Guidolin Cup

The Guidolin Cup is a major international eventing competition held at the Sporting Club Monterosa Novara, in the village of Morghengo, Caltignaga, in the province of Novara. Across the flat countryside of Novara, horse and rider pairs from all over Europe and Asia compete in categories ranging from pony classes to the prestigious CCI3*-L. Four days of dressage, cross-country, and show jumping, with free admission for the public.

The Guidolin Cup in Caltignaga

The Guidolin Cup is one of the highlights of the Italian spring calendar for eventing. It takes place at the Sporting Club Monterosa Novara, located in the hamlet of Morghengo, in the municipality of Caltignaga, in the province of Novara, in the heart of Piedmont. The flat terrain of the Novara countryside offers ideal conditions for the three disciplines of eventing and provides spectators with excellent visibility of the cross-country course.

The three phases of eventing

Eventing combines the three fundamental disciplines of equestrian sport into a single event, spread over several days of competition:

  • Dressage — the training phase, where the horse and rider pair demonstrate elegance, precision, and harmony.
  • Cross-country — the most spectacular and highly anticipated phase, featuring jumps over natural fixed obstacles along a countryside course.
  • Show jumping — the final phase, which tests the horse's athletic endurance and concentration after the rigors of the cross-country.

An international-level event

The Guidolin Cup offers all international eventing categories, from pony classes (CCIP) to the weekend's flagship event, the CCI3*-L, as well as CCI1*, CCI2*-L, and CCI3*-S. The competition attracts riders from numerous European nations and, in recent editions, from Asian countries, for whom the Morghengo stage represents a useful step toward continental qualifications.

The Sporting Club Monterosa

Organized by the Sporting Club Monterosa Novara, the event is part of a rich equestrian season that also sees the club dedicated to training young riders. The meticulous maintenance of the course and the technical quality of the competition officials have rapidly increased the prestige of the event, which attracts some of the world's best course designers.

An event for enthusiasts and curious spectators

With free admission, the Guidolin Cup is an opportunity open not only to equestrian enthusiasts but also to families and curious visitors who wish to discover the spectacle of eventing up close. A significant sporting showcase for Caltignaga, Novara, and the entire Piedmont region.
