About Novarenberg

Novarenberg is the gravel granfondo held in Nibbiola, in the province of Novara, which attracts hundreds of cycling enthusiasts from all over Northern Italy every autumn. Starting from Piazza Genestrone, the routes wind through the Novara rice paddies, long stretches of gravel, and the landscapes of the Ticino Park. As the final stage of the GRAvel lAND circuit, the event combines sport, exploration of the Piedmont region, and a social atmosphere, making it an unmissable date for gravel lovers.

Novarenberg, the gravel event that celebrates the Novara region

Every autumn, the small town of Nibbiola, in the province of Novara, transforms into the Italian capital of gravel. Novarenberg is a cycle-touring event that brings hundreds of participants to ride through the rice paddies of the Novara plains, along country dirt roads, and on the edges of the Ticino Park. Organized by the GRAvel lAND collective, it has quickly become one of the most beloved classics in the gravel calendar of Piedmont and all of Northern Italy.

Routes through rice paddies and gravel paths

The start is set in Piazza Genestrone, in the heart of Nibbiola. The tracks are designed for every level of fitness, featuring a significant amount of gravel, which is the true heart of the gravel experience:

  • 51 km — 120 meters of elevation gain, with about 34 km of gravel
  • 69 km — 130 meters of elevation gain, about 52 km of gravel
  • 90 km — 200 meters of elevation gain, about 69 km of gravel
  • 109 km — 260 meters of elevation gain, about 84 km of gravel

Gravel bikes, mountain bikes, and e-bikes are all welcome, reflecting the inclusive, non-competitive nature of the event, which is open to men and women of all ages.

A key event of the GRAvel lAND circuit

Novarenberg is traditionally the final stage of the GRAvel lAND circuit, which brings together various gravel events across Northern Italy between Lombardy and Piedmont. Participants receive a race pack, gadgets, and refreshments along the route, in a festive atmosphere that mirrors the community's motto: pedal, discover, enjoy.

The territory and tradition

Cycling at Novarenberg means discovering a unique landscape: the vast water-filled expanses of the Novara rice paddies, the riverbanks, the white country roads, and the natural vistas of the Ticino Park. The event thus highlights a corner of Piedmont often far from mass tourism circuits, combining sports activity with the slow discovery of the territory and its local products.
