The Gnocchi Festival of Guardea is one of the oldest and most beloved festivals in Umbria. In the Amerino village, in the province of Terni, volunteers have been hand-making the gnocchi that give the festival its name for decades. They are served with numerous sauce varieties in Piazza Pietro Panfili, in the heart of the town.
Not Just Gnocchi
The festival menu, in addition to gnocchi with many sauces, offers grilled meats and other traditional Umbrian dishes, always ending with a delicious homemade dessert. The organization, the result of the work of dozens of volunteers, is appreciated for the quality of the food and the efficiency of the service, all in an enchanting setting.
A Long and Well-Attended Festival
The Gnocchi Festival spans over ten days in the first half of August, with evenings enlivened by live music. It is the highlight of Guardea's summer and one of the reasons why this small village in southern Umbria is worth a visit: gastronomic tradition, warm hospitality, and an authentic village atmosphere.
Gnocchi Festival — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Guardea Gnocchi Festival, one of Umbria's oldest, is confirmed for the summer, traditionally in the first half of August, in Piazza Pietro Panfili. The handmade gnocchi by volunteers, served in numerous sauce varieties, are the symbolic dish, accompanied by grilled meats and artisanal desserts. Evenings are enlivened by live music. After the 36th edition in 2025, the event reaches its 37th edition in 2026. The organization is managed by the committee of the Guardea Gnocchi Festival.

How to Get There
Guardea (TR) is located in the Amerino region, reachable by car from the E45 (exit towards Baschi/Guardea) or from the SS205 Amerina. The festival takes place in Piazza Pietro Panfili, in the historic center.

Free admission. Food items are paid for at the gastronomic stands, open from the evening. Takeaway is available.
