A month of sustainability and biodiversity at Bioparco ZOOM Torino
The GRRREEN Festival is an annual event hosted by Bioparco ZOOM Torino in Cumiana (province of Turin, Piedmont), dedicated to the environment, biodiversity, and sustainability. The name combines the English word green with the onomatopoeic sound grrr: a playful way to highlight environmental conservation, the protection of animal species, and the need to change our habits to meet the UN's 2030 Agenda goals.
It is a true edutainment format that brings together art, culture, education, awareness, and entertainment through meetings, workshops, masterclasses, concerts, and shows. Scientists, science communicators, green activists, artists, and performers take the stage and roam the park's habitats, creating an experience suitable for the whole family.
The program is organized into several thematic areas, each acting as a piece of a cultural ecosystem:
The heart of the GRRREEN Festival lies in the Green Lab workshops: from discovering plants with the Botanical Labs to Citizen Science activities on pollinating insects, from the "Pianta che ti Passa" trail to beehive observations with "The Bee's Roads," and exploring the microscopic plant world with "Molecole in Fiore." There is no shortage of awareness and fundraising events: the festival supports the projects of the ZOOM Foundation and international conservation initiatives, such as those for the Jane Goodall Institute.
Now in its fourth edition, the GRRREEN Festival has established itself as one of the most popular green events in the Turin area: the "zero" edition in 2023 alone attracted over 20,000 visitors. It is an unmissable event for families and anyone looking to spend days outdoors while learning how to take care of the planet.
The fourth edition of the GRRREEN Festival brought the Bioparco ZOOM Torino in Cumiana to life from May 9 to June 2, 2026, with a rich schedule spread over several weekends and days. The program intertwined the various sections of the festival: the Green Show with performances and concerts, the Green Lab with workshops for families and children, the holistic experiences of the Green Experience, and environmental cinema screenings created with CinemAmbiente Torino.
Special events also included mini electric jeep rides for children to discover sustainable mobility, as well as awareness and fundraising initiatives supporting ZOOM Foundation projects and international organizations like the Jane Goodall Institute.
