The Aosta Valley breed takes centre stage
The Grand-Paradis Livestock Show is the spring cattle exhibition held in Villeneuve, in the province of Aosta, dedicated to the Aosta Valley breed. Organised by AREV (Regional Association of Aosta Valley Breeders), it brings together breeders from the Union of Municipalities of Grand-Paradis, who present their best animals in an atmosphere of celebration and healthy competition.
Livestock shows are a fundamental event for the Aosta Valley's agricultural sector: they serve to promote the animals, connect breeders and buyers, and support the dissemination of the breeds raised. The Aosta Valley breed, robust and perfectly adapted to mid and high-altitude pastures, is one of the symbols of mountain agriculture in the Aosta Valley and also features in famous traditions such as the Batailles de Reines (Cow Fights).
The Villeneuve show is part of the spring calendar of livestock exhibitions that, from one municipality to another, travel through all the Unions of the region, culminating in the National Competition and the Regional Market in Aosta. A journey that tells the story of the Aosta Valley's rural identity and the deep bond between its communities and livestock farming.
The cattle show of the Grand-Paradis Union of Municipalities is scheduled for Wednesday, April 1, 2026, in Villeneuve. The event brings together breeders from the area to present animals of the Aosta Valley breed, within the spring circuit of livestock exhibitions organised by AREV.
The show on April 1, 2026, includes the presentation and evaluation of Aosta Valley breed animals raised in the Grand-Paradis Union, with the usual festive rural atmosphere. It is part of the regional spring calendar of cattle shows, which include events in Châtillon (March 26), Quart (April 2), Pont-Saint-Martin (April 11), La Salle (April 14), Etroubles (April 16), and Brusson (April 18), culminating in the National Competition and Regional Market in Aosta in early May.
Villeneuve can be reached via the A5 motorway (Aosta Ovest-Saint-Pierre exit) and the SS26, along the road to Gran Paradiso.
The show is a public event with free admission.
The exhibition is held in spring, usually in early April.
