The trail under Mont Blanc

The Gran Trail Courmayeur (GTC) is one of the most prestigious trail running events in the Alps. Organized by VDA Trailers, the same company behind the legendary Tor des Géants, it brings hundreds of athletes to Courmayeur (Aosta Province) every summer to run on the trails at the foot of the Mont Blanc massif, with start and finish in the heart of the resort.

Three distances for every runner

The event offers three routes suitable for different levels of preparation:

• GTC100: the 100 km ultra-trail with approximately 7,400 meters of positive elevation gain, the main event, to be tackled with a night start
• GTC55: 55 km with approximately 3,500 meters of elevation gain, for experienced trail runners
• GTC30: 30 km with approximately 2,000 meters of elevation gain, the most accessible distance

A benchmark event

The rankings are validated by ITRA and the GTC100 awards finishers the points needed to enter the draw for the Tor des Géants, for which it serves as a sort of antechamber. The main technical sponsor is La Sportiva. The link with the Tor des Géants and the TORX ecosystem places the GTC among the most sought-after races by trail runners worldwide.

Scenery and challenge

What makes the GTC unique is its setting: the trails wind through the peaks, glaciers, and refuges of the Mont Blanc area, offering competitors some of the most spectacular panoramas in the Alps. A total sporting challenge, but also an immersion in the nature of the Aosta Valley.
