The grand summer celebration of handmade gnocchi in Sant'Egidio alla Vibrata
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Gnocchi Festival is one of the most deep-rooted gastronomic events of the summer in Sant'Egidio alla Vibrata, a town in the province of Teramo overlooking the Val Vibrata, on the border between Abruzzo and the Marche region. For over twenty years, the event has delighted August evenings, drawing in residents and visitors alike, and has grown to become a cornerstone of the summer season in the Teramo territory.
The heart of the festival is, naturally, the handmade gnocchi, prepared according to tradition and offered in various styles: from the classic tomato sauce dressing to more creative recipes designed to surprise the palate. Alongside the star dish, the food stalls offer mixed fried foods, sausages, the famous Abruzzese arrosticini, traditional side dishes, and local desserts, creating a culinary journey that tells the story of this corner of Abruzzo.
The festival is about more than just food: every evening, the squares come alive with live concerts, local bands, DJ sets, and shows for all ages. There is no shortage of games and activities dedicated to children, making the event suitable for the whole family. The convivial atmosphere, typical of village festivals, transforms the center of Sant'Egidio alla Vibrata into a great meeting place under the August stars.
The hub of the event is Piazza Europa and Piazza Duca degli Abruzzi, in the town center, where food stalls, dining areas, and stages for performances are set up. Its location, just a stone's throw from the Marche region and not far from the Adriatic coast, makes the festival easily accessible even for those spending their summer holidays along the Teramo coastline.
The event is organized by the Pro Loco Sant'Egidio alla Vibrata, with the patronage of the Municipality and the support of UNPLI, the National Union of Pro Loco of Italy. As per tradition, the festival kicks off the town's late-August summer calendar. The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced: it is recommended to follow the Pro Loco's social media channels for updates on the program and evening schedules.
The dates for the 2026 edition of the Gnocchi Festival in Sant'Egidio alla Vibrata have not yet been released. Based on previous editions, the festival is expected to return in the second half of August with its signature handmade gnocchi, food stalls, and live music evenings. It is recommended to check the Pro Loco Sant'Egidio alla Vibrata page for the official program.
Sant'Egidio alla Vibrata is located in the Val Vibrata, in the province of Teramo, on the border with the Marche region.
