About Giornate di Chiavari

Spanning late May and June 2nd, Chiavari (Metropolitan City of Genoa) transforms into a large, widespread stage with the Giornate di Chiavari. Directed by Massimiliano Finazzer Flory, the festival brings music, dance, cinema, theatre, and poetry to the city's squares, historic palaces, port, and cinemas. From a tribute to Miles Davis to Mozart's Requiem, and even previews from Cannes: all with free admission.

The City as a Stage

The Giornate di Chiavari are a widespread cultural festival that enlivens Chiavari, an elegant town in the Tigullio region within the Metropolitan City of Genoa. Under the artistic direction of Massimiliano Finazzer Flory, the city's squares, historic palaces, port, and cinema become stage spaces. The theme of the 2026 edition, 'How good it is to be in Chiavari', celebrates the art of living well in one of the pearls of the Ligurian Riviera.

A Multidisciplinary Program

The program intertwines genres and languages: classical and jazz music (from a tribute to Miles Davis to Mozart's Requiem with contemporary dance), cinema (with 4K screenings and previews from the 2026 Cannes Film Festival), theatre, poetry, and art installations. The events feature prominent figures in Italian culture and are spread over several days, with some events extending into July and September.

Culture Open to All

The festival's strong point is free admission to all events, making great culture accessible to residents and tourists alike. From poetic walks to the sanctuary to boat experiences from the tourist port, from circus performances to the final concerts, the Giornate di Chiavari offer a total immersion into the cultural identity of the Tigullio town.
