A review that lasts eleven months
Resistere e Creare is much more than a festival: it is a review spread over time, which from February to November accompanies the audience of Genoa on a journey through dance and contemporary circus. Promoted by the Fondazione Luzzati - Teatro della Tosse, in the heart of Liguria, the event is directed by Marina Petrillo with an artistic committee that works to build an international programme every year.
Great choreographers and world premieres
The programme intertwines the most important names on the international choreographic scene with young and emerging research. Over the years, the review has hosted leading companies and artists, including world premieres, national premieres, and site-specific projects designed for the theatre's spaces. It is a rare opportunity to see works live in Italy that are shown at the most important European festivals.
Not just performances
Alongside the performances, Resistere e Creare offers intensive workshops and residencies with international masters, special projects dedicated to young artists and new technologies applied to the body, and post-show talks that bring the audience closer to the language of contemporary dance. An approach that makes the review a permanent laboratory, not just a showcase.
Genoa, capital of contemporary dance
With its extended duration and quality programming, the review helps position Genoa among the Italian cities most attentive to authorial dance. The Teatro della Tosse, a historic city theatre institution, thus becomes, for much of the year, the home of a loyal audience and a community of artists and industry professionals.
Resistere e Creare — edition 2026
The 12th edition of Resistere e Creare runs from February 27 to November 25, 2026, at Genoa's Teatro della Tosse, revolving around the theme of "Space", understood as a living, experienced, and shared dimension where body, mind, and creativity meet. The artistic direction is by Marina Petrillo, supported by an international artistic committee.
The programme alternates major names in world choreography, world and national premieres, residential workshops, and special projects dedicated to research on body and technology.

The Teatro della Tosse is located in Piazza Renato Negri, in the Sant'Agostino district, right in the historic centre of Genoa. Reachable on foot from the centre and well-served by AMT public transport.
