The automotive slalom race between Giardinello and Sagana, in the heart of the Palermo area

The Giardinello-Sagana Giant Slalom is an automotive slalom race organized by the A.S.D. Scuderia Automobilistica Armanno Corse. It takes place on the hills of Contrada Carcatizzi, along the road connecting Giardinello and the village of Sagana, in the territory between Giardinello and Montelepre, in the heart of the Metropolitan City of Palermo, Sicily. The competition attracts dozens of island drivers every year, drawn by a technical course set in a stunning hilly landscape.
The race course measures 2,800 meters and is made challenging by thirteen slowing stations (the characteristic slalom cones) that force competitors into constant changes of direction and rhythm. The format includes a day of sporting and technical checks, followed by a reconnaissance run and three timed heats: the winner is the one who clocks the best time, with the option to discard the worst run. The awards ceremony takes place in the afternoon in Giardinello, marking the end of the event.
The Giant Slalom awards points valid for the ACI Sport Zone Cup and the Sicilian Slalom Championship, fitting into the rich calendar of hill climb and slalom races that enliven the regional motorsport season. Admitted categories range from production cars to single-seaters and sports-prototype barchettas, which represent the fastest and most spectacular vehicles in the specialty.
The first edition was held in 2022; since then, the race has grown with each edition, becomingโas specialized press outlets have defined itโan unmissable appointment for Sicilian enthusiasts. For the Municipality of Giardinello and nearby towns, the event also represents an opportunity to draw attention and animate the territory, bringing spectators and competitors to the hills of the Palermo area.
