About Giallo Grosseto

For three days, Grosseto transforms into the Italian capital of mystery, thriller and noir. Between the halls of the Biblioteca Chelliana and the historic city center, authors, actors and journalists bring to life a series of meetings, book launches, writing workshops and performances. The 2026 edition pays tribute to Andrea Camilleri on the centenary of his birth, with free admission to almost all events, in a festival that attracts enthusiasts from all over Italy to the heart of the Tuscan Maremma.

Grosseto: Capital of Mystery and Noir

Giallo Grosseto is the literary festival that, for three days, turns the capital of the Tuscan Maremma into the Italian reference point for fans of mystery, thriller and noir. Organized by Pro Loco Grosseto with the patronage of the Municipality of Grosseto – Department of Culture and the support of the Biblioteca Comunale Chelliana, the event brings together writers, actors, journalists and readers in a packed calendar of meetings spread across the city's most evocative locations.

The 2026 Edition: A Tribute to Andrea Camilleri

The second edition, scheduled from May 28 to 30, 2026, is dedicated to Andrea Camilleri on the centenary of his birth, the father of Inspector Montalbano and an undisputed master of Italian crime fiction. Under the artistic direction of Carlo Legaluppi, the festival offers book presentations, round tables, writing workshops, themed recreational activities, tastings of typical Maremma products and theatrical performances.

Authors and Guests

The protagonists of the Grosseto days include well-known names in Italian mystery and noir: Gaetano Savatteri, Valerio Varesi, Marco Vichi, Gabriella Genisi, Valeria Corciolani, François Morlupi, as well as actors Ninni Bruschetta and Peppino Mazzotta, and critics and experts like Luca Crovi.

Festival Venues

The events take place in multiple locations in the center of Grosseto, including:

  • Biblioteca Chelliana, the heart of the afternoon presentations and meetings;

Born in 2025, Giallo Grosseto has quickly established itself as one of the most significant cultural events in the province of Grosseto and Tuscany, capable of attracting authors and enthusiasts from all over Italy. The festival combines a passion for genre literature with the discovery of the city and its territory, among the Medici walls, the squares of the historic center and the flavors of the Maremma tradition, offering an experience that weaves together culture, entertainment and local identity.
