The mineral, fossil, and natural specimen fair in Bra
GeoBra is a mineral, fossil, and natural specimen fair held in Bra, in the province of Cuneo, which has become a highly anticipated event for collectors and curious visitors from across Piedmont. The venue is the Movicentro, an exhibition space overlooking Piazza Caduti di Nassiriya, right next to the train station: a convenient and bright location that fills with sparkling displays every spring.
The heart of the event lies with the exhibitors, who arrive from Italy as well as distant countries like India and Morocco. At the stalls, visitors can admire and purchase quartz and garnets from the Piedmontese Alps, spectacular fossils from Morocco and Madagascar, handmade gems and jewelry, and curious microminerals—crystals only a few millimeters in size that can only be observed with a magnifying glass or microscope. The variety of specimens makes every edition an opportunity to discover the extraordinary beauty of the mineral world.
What sets GeoBra apart from a simple fair is the presence of numerous Piedmontese scientific institutions, which join the exhibitors with educational stands and materials for study. Regular participants include the Regional Museum of Natural Sciences of Turin, the University of Turin, the Asti Paleontological Park, the Craveri Civic Museum of Natural History in Bra, the Federico Sacco Geological Museum in Fossano, and various industry associations. This network of museums and scholars makes the event a moment of scientific outreach accessible to everyone.
Thanks to free admission and a curious, welcoming atmosphere, GeoBra is perfect for a weekend trip in March. Children and teenagers can explore the world of geology and paleontology in a hands-on way, observing minerals, crystals, and ancient fossils up close. The event is promoted by the Associazione Amici dei Musei of Bra, with the support of the City of Bra and the Piedmont Region, and represents a point of cultural pride for the Roero area.
