Signature blues music in the hills of the Alessandria Monferrato
The Gavazzana Blues Festival is one of the most cherished summer musical events in the region: a series that, year after year, transforms the small village of Gavazzana, in the municipality of Cassano Spinola (Province of Alessandria, Piedmont), into a landmark for fans of blues and high-quality live music. In 2026, the festival reaches an important milestone, its fifteenth edition, confirming its status as a deeply rooted fixture in the cultural landscape of the Val Borbera and the Alessandria Monferrato.
The heart of the event is the Belvedere San Martino, considered the most elegant corner of the village of Gavazzana: an open-air space overlooking the hills, where music merges with the landscape on summer evenings. The organizing association, the Club Gavazzana Blues, is based in the evocative cellars of the birthplace of Don Carlo Sterpi, thus linking the festival to the memory and identity of the village.
Every year, the festival offers a careful and varied program, alternating big names from the Italian blues scene with projects ranging from rock to singer-songwriter music, as well as boogie-woogie and jazz influences. Alongside the main concerts in Gavazzana, the festival often includes dates in other towns and locations in the area, expanding its cultural reach.
The Gavazzana Blues Festival is more than just a concert lineup: it is a moment of celebration for the entire community of Cassano Spinola and neighboring towns. Free admission with voluntary donations makes the festival accessible to everyone, while food and wine stalls accompany the evenings with local flavors. A simple and genuine formula that, for fifteen years, has made Gavazzana a small but authentic crossroads for blues in Piedmont.
The 2026 edition of the Gavazzana Blues Festival celebrates fifteen years of the series with a lineup that alternates tributes, original projects, and names from the Italian blues and boogie-woogie scene.
The festival also includes dates in other municipalities in the area, such as the evening of July 23 in Carezzano with the Leo Ghiringhelli Power Trio. Admission is free with voluntary donations.
Gavazzana is a hamlet of the municipality of Cassano Spinola, in the Province of Alessandria. By car, it can be reached from the A7 motorway (Vignole Borbera exit) or the A26, continuing along the Val Borbera. The reference railway station is Arquata Scrivia, on the Genoa-Turin line.
Admission to the concerts is free with voluntary donations. It is recommended to arrive early to secure seating.
The concerts are held outdoors in the evening: we recommend clothing suitable for summer evenings in the hills. Food stalls with local products are available on-site.
