The festival celebrating grapes and Galluccio DOC wine in the historic center of the upper Caserta region
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
In the upper Caserta region, at the foot of the Roccamonfina volcanic complex, the Galluccio Grape Festival has been the event marking the end of the harvest season for nearly fifty years. It is not just a local village feast: it is a traveling event that, in addition to Galluccio, involves neighboring municipalities linked to the same wine-growing territory, including Conca della Campania and Presenzano. In Conca, the event takes place in the historic center of the village, in the province of Caserta, in the heart of inland Campania.
The territory is defined by the Galluccio DOC designation, which originated on the volcanic soils of Roccamonfina, where Aglianico and Falanghina grapes produce wines with great freshness and mineral character. Alongside the wines, the festival showcases products under the Roccamonfina PGI label and the entire agricultural supply chain of the upper Caserta area. Grapes, both table and wine varieties, are the central symbol around which everything revolves: fertility, the harvest, and rural memory.
For the occasion, the alleys and small squares of Conca della Campania are transformed into a culinary trail. The format, consolidated over the years, includes:
In 2019, Conca della Campania hosted the final stage of the 44th edition of the Galluccio Grape Festival, with the In Vico Veritas event organized by the Pro Loco Conca Insieme association with the patronage of the Campania Region and the Municipality. The program featured a guided tasting at Palazzo Mazzitelli dedicated to Galluccio DOC wines and Roccamonfina PGI products, in collaboration with AIS Caserta and chef Luca di Miele, performances by the folk group La Takkarata, a conference in the Council Chamber, and free guided tours of the naturalistic trail of the Waterfalls.
Visitors arriving for the festival can take the opportunity to explore the village and its surroundings. In the Catailli district, there is the Peasant Museum, which preserves tools and objects from the rural life of the upper Caserta area; just outside the town, the trail of the Waterfalls of Conca della Campania and the Lieti Waterfalls offers an easy walk through woods and streams. The landscape is that of the mountains separating Campania from Lazio, framed by vineyards, chestnut groves, and olive orchards.
This is an authentic festival, the kind born from the hard work of farms and local associations rather than a pre-packaged event. Those looking for the less touristy side of Campania, the inland villages of the province of Caserta where wine is still tasted in the cellar of those who produce it, will find a balanced weekend here, with affordable prices and genuine hospitality.
Dates and programs are released annually by the Municipality of Conca della Campania and the Pro Loco, usually between the end of summer and the beginning of autumn. It is advisable to check for updates on official channels before traveling, as the calendar may vary from one edition to another and the event, by its traveling nature, does not visit the same municipalities every year.
The 2026 edition of the Grape Festival in Conca della Campania is not currently confirmed: no official dates or program have been published. The reference remains the September 2025 event, which took place in the historic center of the Caserta village.
For the main event, the Galluccio Grape Festival, the 50th edition is announced in Galluccio for September 20 and 21, 2026, with the date still marked as to be confirmed by the organizers. As it is a traveling festival among the municipalities of the Galluccio DOC designation, it is not guaranteed that a stop in Conca della Campania is planned every year. We recommend following the channels of the Municipality of Conca della Campania and the Pro Loco to find out the dates and program as soon as they are released.
Conca della Campania (postal code 81044) can be reached by car from the Caianello exit of the A1 Rome-Naples motorway, about fifteen kilometers away. The reference railway station is Mignano Monte Lungo, on the Rome-Cassino-Naples line; the nearest airports are Naples Capodichino and Rome Ciampino.
During the festival, the historic center is largely pedestrianized: it is best to leave your car in the parking areas at the entrance to the village and continue on foot. The narrow streets of the village are uphill and have stone paving, so comfortable footwear is recommended.
Accommodation options in the village are limited: farmhouses, B&Bs, and restaurants can also be found in the neighboring municipalities of Galluccio, Presenzano, Mignano Monte Lungo, and Roccamonfina. At the festival, you can eat at the stalls, featuring traditional peasant cuisine and local wines.
At the end of September, evenings in the hills can already be cool: it is best to bring a light jacket. Those who want to taste the wines in peace will find fewer crowds in the early afternoon.
