About Free Food Festival
Food that includes everyone
The Free Food Festival – Gluten Free & Veg was born in Sarzana (Province of La Spezia) with a precise idea: to make the pleasure of food accessible even to those who live with celiac disease or choose a plant-based diet. In Piazza Matteotti, in the historic center, artisanal producers from all over Italy bring gluten-free and plant-based specialties, guaranteeing safe options for those with intolerances or dietary restrictions.
Not just food
The event is much more than a gastronomic area: over the four days, there will be street food, live music, DJ sets, workshops for children, and in-depth discussions on celiac disease and plant-based nutrition. A convivial area with shared seating invites you to experience the festival as a moment of discovery and social interaction.
A local project
Organized by the Municipality of Sarzana together with the Gnam Eventi Association, the festival benefits from the contribution of creators and communicators from the gluten-free world and the involvement of organizations committed to the issue of food allergies and intolerances. Admission is free and purchases are made using a token system.
Free Food Festival — edition 2026
The 2nd edition of the Free Food Festival enlivens Sarzana from May 29 to June 1, 2026, in Piazza Matteotti. Artisanal producers from all over Italy offer gluten-free and plant-based specialties, while the program alternates street food, live music, DJ sets, workshops for children, and in-depth talks. The opening is entrusted to Senator Elena Murelli, president of the Parliamentary Intergroup on Celiac Disease, with the involvement of creator Valentina Leporati.

How to get there
By train: Sarzana station on the Genoa–La Spezia–Pisa line. By car: A12 or A15, Sarzana exit. The festival takes place in Piazza Matteotti, in the historic center.
Admission and payments
Free admission. Food and drink purchases are made using a token system. Hours: Friday 5 PM-11 PM; Saturday, Sunday, and Monday 11 AM-11 PM continuously.
