About Frasso Beer Fest

Every mid-August, the San Vito hill above Frasso Telesino becomes the beer headquarters of the Sannio region. The Frasso Beer Fest—originally launched as the ChiAma la Bionda Beer Festival and also known as La Bionda Beer Fest—serves up steins of Spaten, craft beers brewed specifically for the event, Bavarian-inspired dishes, and local grilled meats, accompanied by live concerts and DJ sets every night. On the weekend, the event also hosts FrassOn the Road, a motorbike rally that brings dozens of riders to the foot of the Taburno Camposauro mountains.

A beer festival at the foot of the Taburno

The Frasso Beer Fest is the mid-August event that brings the San Vito Hill in Frasso Telesino, in the province of Benevento, to life in the heart of inland Campania. Four consecutive evenings transform the green space of Parco San Vito into a large, convivial area with outdoor tables, flowing taps, a non-stop kitchen, and a stage hosting a packed musical program. It is a village festival in the most authentic sense, having grown year after year to become one of the most recognizable summer highlights in the Valle Telesina.

From the Bionda to the Frasso Beer Fest

The event was originally named ChiAma la Bionda, a play on words between "blonde beer" and the local meat served alongside the mugs. By 2017, the festival was already in its fourth edition, and in subsequent years, the name evolved into La Bionda Beer Fest and finally Frasso Beer Fest, while keeping the formula intact: the fixed mid-August residency on the hill, the official opening with the symbolic barrel procession, and four days of continuous programming. In 2025, the festival took place from August 16th to 19th, confirming its traditional spot in the Sannio festival calendar.

What to drink

The declared inspiration is the Bavarian tradition. The star of the taps is Spaten, one of the classic Munich beers, served in steins alongside other German labels. Over the years, the organizers have also commissioned two craft beers created exclusively for the event, named La Bionda and Don Raffaè: a way to give the festival its own signature and bridge the Oktoberfest vibe with Campanian irony.

The cuisine: Bavaria and Sannio on the same plate

The kitchen is the second soul of the event, blending classic beer festival staples with local livestock products. Past menus have featured:

  • roasted pork knuckle and bratwurst;
  • roast chicken and various fried snacks;
  • sandwiches filled with local meat, the heart of the historic "ChiAma la Bionda" dish;
  • traditional Sannio side dishes and desserts.

In recent editions, the area has been equipped with over five hundred seats, ample parking, and a space for campers.

Live music and DJ sets

Every evening, the program features a live concert, usually starting at 9 PM, followed by DJ sets that continue into the early hours of the morning. The artistic direction has always favored cover bands and rock/blues tributes: past editions have seen groups dedicated to the Foo Fighters and Pink Floyd, country-blues bands, and brass ensembles playing traditional German music during the opening. The result is an evening that flows from dinner at long tables to dancing under the stage.

FrassOn the Road, the mid-summer motorbike rally

On the weekend, the festival doubles up with FrassOn the Road, the motorbike rally that has accompanied the Beer Festival for years, bringing riders from all over Campania and neighboring regions to San Vito. A camping area is set up for motorcyclists, and the rally intertwines with the festival's musical program: sightseeing tours in the surroundings by day, beer and concerts by night. It is one of the elements that distinguishes the Frasso Beer Fest from many other summer beer festivals in the Sannio region.

Frasso Telesino, a village of wine and traditions

The village has just over two thousand inhabitants and stretches at about 374 meters above sea level on the western slope of the Taburno Camposauro, within the regional park of the same name, beneath the peaks of Monte Sant'Angelo and Serra del Ceraso. Visitors arriving for the festival can take the opportunity to discover the Grotta di San Michele, the Madonna di Campanile sanctuary with its medieval wooden Madonna, Palazzo Gambacorta, and Palazzo Mosiello. Frasso Telesino is also a land of vineyards within the Taburno wine district, and the local calendar is marked by other events such as the Frasso Carnival, the August Fair, and the celebrations of the Madonna di Campanile in early September.

Why it's worth the trip

The Frasso Beer Fest doesn't have the scale of massive festivals, but it does have a hill that overlooks the entire valley at sunset, village-festival prices, and a crowd that mixes families, groups of young people, and motorcyclists. For those spending the summer between Benevento and Naples, it is one of the easiest evening trips in mid-August.

Frasso Beer Fest — edition 2026

For the summer of 2026, the organizers of the Frasso Beer Fest have not yet released official dates or a program. The event is traditionally held in mid-August on the San Vito Hill in Frasso Telesino, featuring German and craft beers, Bavarian-inspired cuisine, live concerts, and DJ sets. We recommend checking for updates on the festival's social media channels before traveling.

The festival area is located in the San Vito Hill locality, a short distance from the town center, and is marked by temporary signage during the event days.

Parking and campers

In past editions, the organizers provided ample parking next to the festival area and a space for campers and tents, with a dedicated camping area for participants of the FrassOn the Road motorbike rally.

Hours and admission

The evenings usually begin in the early evening with food service; live music starts around 9 PM and DJ sets continue late into the night. In previous editions, admission to the area was free, with food and beer paid for at the cash registers.
