The music and friendship festival of Ceccano, in memory of Francesco Alviti
The Francesco Alviti Festival is the premier musical and cultural event in Ceccano, a town in the Province of Frosinone, in the heart of the Ciociaria area and the Lazio region. The festival was established to honour Francesco Alviti, a young local percussionist who passed away in 2009 after a long illness. Friends and fellow musicians who knew him wanted to transform that bond into an annual celebration of music and friendship, now in its eighteenth year.
The hub of the festival is Piazza San Giovanni, with its Collegiate Church of San Giovanni Battista, which welcomes the public every evening for free concerts, shows, and meetings. The festival extends to the Corte dei de' Ceccano and other historic town centre venues, creating a journey that intertwines music, history, and local heritage.
The schedule ranges from classical music to folklore, and from opera to theatre, involving both local and national musical institutions. Each edition features dozens of events with orchestras, rock bands, theatre groups, opera and pop singers, accordionists and bandoneon players, poets, and reciters, alongside moments dedicated to history and art. The artistic direction is led by Mauro Gizzi, a key figure from the Licinio Refice Conservatory of Frosinone.
In 2026, the Francesco Alviti Festival is part of the broader regional project Vibrazioni - Le Feste di Ceccano, supported by the Lazio Region. This project complements the historic festival with the newly launched Sismica Festival, dedicated to young talent, emerging bands, crossover ensembles, poetry slams, and choreographic performances. It is a significant investment in live culture that confirms Ceccano as one of the most vibrant centres on the Ciociaria music scene.
The Francesco Alviti Festival is much more than a concert series: it is a collective ritual that unites generations and associations, capable of filling the town's main square for weeks. Those visiting the Ciociaria region in summer will find an authentic opportunity here to listen to great music, discover the history of the town of Ceccano, and breathe in the atmosphere of a community that uses culture as a way to come together.
The 2026 Francesco Alviti Festival takes place in Ceccano (Province of Frosinone, Lazio) from 3 June to 6 July, with twenty evenings spread over a month. The opening night, Wednesday 3 June at 9:30 PM in Piazza San Giovanni, is entrusted to the young musicians of the Ceccano High School. The artistic direction is by Mauro Gizzi, with the support of the Licinio Refice Conservatory of Frosinone and the patronage of the Municipality of Ceccano.
The edition features five orchestras, two rock bands, three theatre groups, opera and pop singers, accordionists and bandoneon players, poets, and reciters. Announced events include an evening of Berlin and Viennese music with German artists, the return of the Ika Brothers, concerts by the youth bands of Ferentino and the Amaseno Harmony Show Band, as well as Daniele Ingiosi on the bandoneon and Federico Palladini with the Banda della Scolopendra.
In 2026, the festival is part of the Vibrazioni - Le Feste di Ceccano project, supported by the Lazio Region, which complements the historic festival with the new Sismica Festival dedicated to young talent, emerging bands, crossover ensembles, poetry slams, and choreographic performances. The edition also coincides with the eighth centenary of the death of Saint Francis, celebrated with dedicated events.
The festival offers a total of twenty evenings; the full calendar is published by the Ceccano Pro Loco and the Municipality.
