Three days of music, comedy, and tradition in the heart of the Monti Lepini village

Borgo in Musica is the highlight of the Estate Patricana, the summer calendar promoted by the Municipality of Patrica, a small town perched on the slopes of the Monti Lepini, in the province of Frosinone, in the Lazio region. For three consecutive nights, from August 14th to 16th, the town's main square โ Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II โ becomes the beating heart of a festival that blends live performance, popular devotion, and conviviality.
The festival's formula is well-established, alternating between different styles to appeal to everyone from children to the village elders. It kicks off with a comedy night, continues with the Patrica Music Fest, and concludes with the traditional band concert dedicated to the patron saint's feast.
The Patrica Marching Band is much more than just a musical group: it is a cultural institution that involves both young and old residents. As it parades through the stone alleys of the historic center, it brings the most authentic spirit of the festival to the community. Its repertoire, ranging from marches to pop songs rearranged for brass and percussion, accompanies almost every major moment of the summer in Patrica.
On August 16th, Patrica celebrates San Rocco, the patron saint most revered by the local population. The morning features a Eucharistic celebration and a procession: the statue is carried through the village streets by confreres in white robes, while women carry large votive candles, following a ritual passed down through generations. In the evening, devotion gives way to secular celebration with a concert by the historic Banda Licinio Refice โ named after the local composer โ and fireworks that illuminate the Sacco Valley.
Borgo in Musica is not an isolated event: it is part of the Estate Patricana, which runs from late June to September and offers trekking on ancient trails, cycling in the Lepini mountains, photo exhibitions, the enchanting Illumina Candele nel Borgo, the Feast of Sant'Anna in the Tomacella area, and the Ciociaria in Musica and Street Food Festival with food and wine stalls. Visitors arriving for Ferragosto will find a town already buzzing with activity, following a full week of events and the Sapori e Colori sotto le Stelle themed dinner held shortly after.
Patrica is one of the most evocative natural balconies in the Ciociaria region: from its 450-meter altitude, the view stretches across the Sacco Valley to the Ernici Mountains. Watching a band concert in a crowded square, with the lights glowing and the scent of local specialties wafting from the stalls, is an experience rarely found in large festivals: here, music is still, first and foremost, a community affair. Admission to all evenings is free.
The 2026 edition of Borgo in Musica is expected in Patrica, in the province of Frosinone, during the usual mid-August window linked to the feast of San Rocco, the town's patron saint celebrated every year on August 16th with a Eucharistic celebration and a procession through the village streets.
As of today, the Municipality of Patrica has not yet published the full calendar for the Estate Patricana 2026 or the specific program for the evenings. The dates provided here correspond to the traditional schedule of the festival and remain to be officially confirmed.
Those wishing to plan their visit can follow the official municipal channels and the Facebook page dedicated to Borgo in Musica, where the event poster is usually released in the weeks preceding the event.
By car: from the A1 Milan-Naples motorway, take the Frosinone exit, then follow the SS156 road of the Monti Lepini towards Supino/Patrica (approx. 15 km). The final stretch towards the historic center is uphill and winding.
By train: Frosinone station on the Rome-Cassino line, then take a local bus or taxi to Patrica.
The historic center is a restricted traffic zone during the evenings: it is best to leave your car in the parking lots at the foot of the village and walk up.
All performances in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II are free of charge. Shows generally start at 9:30 PM.
Wear comfortable shoes for the stone alleys and bring a light sweater: even in August, at 450 meters above sea level, the evenings can be cool. For accommodation, there are more options available in Frosinone, Supino, and Ferentino.
