Contemporary, classical, and improvisational music in the village of Montaldeo
The Foresty International Music Festival is a musical event held in Montaldeo, a small municipality in the Upper Monferrato area of the Alessandria province, in the heart of Piedmont. Born from the initiative of the Casa della Musica San Michele and the Collettivo 21 association, the festival is conceived as a true cultural laboratory, capable of bringing high-quality music and prominent national and international artists to a rural area, far from the major metropolitan circuits.
The Foresty Festival features a season of concerts, masterclasses, and workshops that explore the most representative aspects of contemporary, classical, early, and improvisational music. The masterclasses, led by established musicians, often culminate in final concerts open to the public, creating a direct dialogue between teachers, students, and the audience. This blend of advanced training and concert performance is one of the event's hallmarks.
Concerts take place in charming spaces throughout the village and its surroundings: the Casa della Musica San Michele, the Oratorio San Michele, and the most picturesque corners of the Village of Montaldeo. The choice of rural settings and unique locations is part of the project's identity, which aims to promote the village and the entire Upper Monferrato territory from a tourism perspective as well.
A fundamental feature of the Foresty Festival is free admission to all concerts, making high-brow music accessible to a wide audience. The event is sponsored by the municipalities of Montaldeo and Parodi Ligure and supported by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Alessandria, along with contributions from local entities, confirming the project's deep roots in the Alessandria provincial community.
With its original approach, the Foresty International Music Festival has carved out a unique place in the landscape of Piedmontese music festivals: an intimate and refined experience where listening to new music is combined with the discovery of an authentic village and its rolling hills.
The 2026 edition confirms the festival's format, featuring final concerts from masterclasses and events dedicated to new music in the village of Montaldeo, in the province of Alessandria. All events are free of charge.
The overall program is currently being finalized: for updates and any new appointments, please refer to the festival's official website.
