Flower Battle

A Tradition Over a Century Old

The Flower Battle is the symbolic event of Ventimiglia, in the province of Imperia. Born in 1903 from the idea of some floriculturists, it is closely linked to one of the most prosperous sectors of the economy of western Liguria: floriculture. Recognized as a Heritage of Italy for tradition, in 2026 it will reach its 46th edition.

Floats of Petals

The absolute protagonists are the allegorical floats, true artisanal masterpieces entirely covered in mosaic petals. Each group works for weeks on the creation of its float, composing images and decorations with thousands of flowers. The parade transforms the streets of the center into a moving floral art gallery.

The Battle with the Public

The most anticipated moment arrives on the second lap of the floats: the figures on board engage in a flower battle with the public crowded along the streets, throwing petals and flowers at each other. At the end of the route, the streets of Ventimiglia are left covered by a soft carpet of fragrant petals. A jury of experts finally awards the most beautiful float.
