Every year, at the beginning of June, the square of the Sanctuary of Vicoforte transforms into a sprawling garden. Florete Flores is a nursery and gardening market exhibition that brings dozens of exhibitors specializing in plants, flowers, and everything related to the world of greenery and outdoor living to this village in the Monregalese area, in the province of Cuneo. The setting is one of the most evocative in Piedmont: the Sanctuary Basilica of Vicoforte, famous for housing the largest elliptical dome in the world.

Over the two days, around the Basilica, about sixty exhibitors set up shop, featuring high-quality nurseries, aromatic and ornamental plants, botanical collectors, artisans, and numerous stalls offering gardening equipment and ideas. However, Florete Flores is more than just a market: it is an opportunity to engage with botanical culture through a stage hosting talks, conferences, and presentations by industry experts, as well as educational workshops and creative activities designed for both adults and children.

The event is organized by the Municipality of Vicoforte together with Pro Vicoforte, with the support of volunteers and the Civil Protection.

Florete Flores — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of Florete Flores, the eighth of the event, was held on Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7, around the Sanctuary Basilica of Vicoforte. About sixty exhibitors enlivened the square with high-quality nurseries, aromatic and ornamental plants, botanical collectors, and artisans. The theme of the year, 'A Great Botanist in Rome', was dedicated to Giorgio Bonelli, a physician and botanist born in Vicoforte in 1724. There was great participation in the workshops, stage conferences, the area featuring plants mentioned in the Bible, the xylotheque exhibition, and the Fior di Proloco dining area involving seven local Pro Loco associations. Mayor Gian Pietro Gasco attributed the success to 'the excellent quality of the products on display, the favorable weather, and the large turnout of visitors'.

Saturday, June 6
- From 9:00 AM to sunset: market exhibition with about 60 exhibitors, nurseries, aromatic and ornamental plants, botanical collectors, and artisans around the Sanctuary.
- Stage conferences: architect Gian Franco Somà on the botanist Giorgio Bonelli; Professor Luigi Dotta on water and terrestrial magnetic fields; Alessandro De Mitri on plants and flowers in literature and art; herbalist Giuseppe Bertelli Motta on botanical research between Africa and South America; the Artesane Association on birch.
- Workshops for adults and children, including natural fabric dyeing with flower pigments, and musical accompaniment in the evening.
Sunday, June 7
- From 9:00 AM to sunset: the nursery and gardening market exhibition continues.
- 3:00 PM: journalist Claudio Porchia talks about Libereso Guglielmi, the gardener of the Calvino family.
- 4:00 PM: cooking demonstration with flowers and edible herbs by chef Daniele Gambaro.
- In the afternoon: awards ceremony for the 'Colors and Reflections of Vicoforte' photography contest promoted by Pro Vicoforte.
Throughout both days: area dedicated to plants mentioned in the Bible, xylotheque exhibition, and Fior di Proloco dining area.
