Beer festival, street food, and live music in Piazza Municipio, in the Benevento Sannio region
Fiumi di Birra – A par' 'e spond' is the beer festival held in San Leucio del Sannio, a small hillside town in the Province of Benevento, Campania, perched on a height overlooking the Sabato valley just south of the provincial capital. For four days, Piazza Municipio, along Via Roma, transforms into a large open-air party space: beer taps, food stalls, a stage for live music, and areas dedicated to games and families.
Over the years, the event has established itself as one of the most anticipated appointments in the Sannio region, and the reason is quite simple: it goes beyond mere tasting. The formula combines conviviality, tradition, and entertainment, with a proposal designed for a wide and diverse audience, from the curious to beer enthusiasts, from families with children to groups of friends who stay in the square until the late-night DJ sets.
The title plays with the image of "rivers of beer," while the subtitle A par' 'e spond' is in the local dialect: a choice that says a lot about the spirit of the festival, rooted in the local parlance and social life of the town rather than a pre-packaged format. It is a town square festival, organized in a center of just under three thousand inhabitants, which nevertheless manages to attract visitors from Benevento and neighboring municipalities.
The heart of the offering is a selection of beers for all tastes, designed both for those looking for a style they already know and for those who want to try something new. Alongside the taps, the Street Food Village offers local gastronomic specialties and more creative proposals, curated with particular attention to food and beer pairings: a journey that allows you to explore Sannio cuisine in a street-food format, without compromising on quality.
Each evening features a live concert, usually at 9:00 PM, followed by a DJ set that keeps the party going until late. The programming is deliberately eclectic and spans different genres: in the 2026 edition, Southern Italian folk, 1950s rock'n'roll and rockabilly, Italian and international rock, and, in closing, a more ironic live show with moments of collective karaoke were featured. An artistic line that favors bands capable of making the square dance rather than big-name acts.
Those who arrive for the beer discover a town that still lives in a very intimate dimension. San Leucio del Sannio has just under three thousand inhabitants and dominates the Sabato valley from above, the natural corridor that connects the Benevento area to Irpinia. We are in the heart of Sannio, a land of white wines — Falanghina del Sannio is the denomination that has made this area known far beyond regional borders — and hillside towns that have maintained a strong gastronomic identity.
The proximity to Benevento makes it easy to combine the festival with a day in the city, visiting the Arch of Trajan, the Roman Theatre, and the UNESCO-listed Santa Sofia complex. It is a smart way to organize your visit: afternoon dedicated to the capital, evening in the square in San Leucio del Sannio.
The event takes place at the end of April, coinciding with the April 25th long weekend, when the Sannio evenings begin to be mild enough to enjoy the square. The stalls open in the late afternoon on weekdays and as early as noon on the final Sunday, which is effectively the richest day of the program: aperitif, daytime DJ set, Beer Games, and evening live music.
The 2026 edition of Fiumi di Birra – A par' 'e spond' was held from Thursday, April 23 to Sunday, April 26 in Piazza Municipio, along Via Roma, in the center of San Leucio del Sannio (Province of Benevento, Campania). Four days that confirmed the event's well-tested formula: a proposal that goes beyond simple tasting, with beers for all tastes, quality street food, live music, DJ sets, and activities designed to involve a wide and diverse audience.
During the first three days, the stalls opened at 6:00 PM, with the live concert at 9:00 PM and the DJ set to follow. Sunday, April 26 was the busiest day: early opening at 12:00 PM with an aperitif and daytime DJ set, Beer Games from 5:00 PM — a series of beer-themed games and challenges — and a final live show with moments of collective karaoke. Alongside the taps, the Street Food Village offered Sannio specialties and carefully studied food and beer pairings, while a dedicated family area with a playground allowed even the youngest ones to enjoy the festival.
The calendar, coinciding with the April 25th long weekend, encouraged the influx of visitors from Benevento and the towns of the Sabato valley, confirming the event as one of the most anticipated in Sannio.
Piazza Municipio, Via Roma — 82010 San Leucio del Sannio (BN), Campania.
On weekdays, the stalls open in the late afternoon (from 6:00 PM in the 2026 edition) and concerts begin around 9:00 PM, with DJ sets to follow. On the closing Sunday, opening is brought forward to noon, with an aperitif and daytime DJ set, and the Beer Games start in the afternoon.
The festival takes place in an open-air public square. Beer and food are purchased directly at the taps and Street Food Village stalls. Available sources do not indicate an entrance fee: it is advisable to check the conditions of the current edition.
The center of San Leucio del Sannio is small and parking near the square fills up quickly: it is better to arrive early and continue on foot. Late April evenings on the hills can be cool, so a light jacket is useful. Sunday is the best day for those coming with children, thanks to the family area and daytime opening.
