A festival born from the woods

In Carnia, the forest is not just landscape: it is economy, culture, identity. The Fiésto dei Ciòcs in Ludaria, a small hamlet in the municipality of Rigolato in the province of Udine, celebrates precisely this ancient bond between the Friulian mountain and its wood. The name itself, in the Carnic language, recalls the ciòcs — the stumps, the logs — protagonists of a day dedicated to the world of the forest and manual skill.

The art of the chainsaw

The most spectacular moment is undoubtedly the artistic chainsaw sculpting exhibition by the Eddj Team: before the eyes of the public, simple logs take shape and transform into real works of art, including animals, figures, and imaginative creations. A performance that combines strength, precision, and creativity, capable of captivating young and old alike.

Market, music, and gastronomy

Alongside the demonstrations, the festival offers an artisan market with local creations and handmade items, live music, and typical Carnic gastronomy, for a convivial Sunday in a mountain setting. It is one of those authentic festivals, far from the major tourist circuits, where you can breathe the true spirit of the Carnic community.

Discovering Ludaria

Participating in the Fiésto dei Ciòcs is also an opportunity to discover Ludaria and the Val Degano, with their stone villages, bell tower, and paths that wind through the woods. Supported by the local community and the Pro Loco, and sponsored by the Municipality of Rigolato, the event is the best way to experience the culture of wood and the Friulian mountains up close.
