The gourmet Christmas market in Dobbiaco, at the foot of the Three Peaks
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
In the municipality of Dobbiaco/Toblach, in the Upper Puster Valley (province of Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige), the Drei Zinnen Weihnacht / Christmas under the Three Peaks market brings the town center to life throughout the Advent and holiday season. Set against the backdrop of the Sesto Dolomites and in the shadow of the iconic Three Peaks of Lavaredo, this market stands out from the larger South Tyrolean markets for its intimate, cozy, and distinctly gourmet character.
The most recognizable feature of the market is its wooden huts, which mirror the architectural lines of the Grand Hotel of Dobbiaco, the town's landmark monument. Arranged in the center, in front of the church, they create an elegant and nostalgic atmosphere, evoking the golden age of Alpine tourism in the late 19th century.
More than just a craft market, "Christmas under the Three Peaks" is a market dedicated to gastronomy, with a focus on tradition. Local vendors from Dobbiaco offer typical specialties of Puster Valley cuisine:
The heated pavilion hosts a rich Advent musical program: brass bands, alphorns, saxophones, and soloists accompany the market days. The pavilion also showcases the creations of local artisans. During the market period, the Glückslotterie (luck lottery) takes place: local shops, restaurants, and hotels in Dobbiaco distribute tickets with every purchase, with vouchers to be spent in the area up for grabs.
The market accompanies the entire holiday calendar: from the Advent weekends until Epiphany. On the evening of December 31st, the center of Dobbiaco remains lively until late at night with a New Year's Eve party. Thanks to its proximity to the winter sports events of the Upper Puster Valley, the market experiences particularly vibrant moments during cross-country skiing competitions.
Easily accessible and nestled in one of the most spectacular landscapes in South Tyrol, the Dobbiaco market is the ideal destination for those seeking an authentic Christmas, far from the crowds, where South Tyrolean gastronomic tradition meets the magic of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites.
At the moment, the Dobbiaco Tourist Board has not yet published the dates and program for the 2026 edition of the Christmas under the Three Peaks market. Based on previous editions, the event takes place between late November and Epiphany in the center of Dobbiaco. Information will be updated as soon as the organization announces the official calendar.
Dobbiaco is located in the Upper Puster Valley, on the SS49 Pusteria state road. By train: Dobbiaco station on the Fortezza–San Candido–Lienz line. By car: take the Bressanone exit (A22) and then the SS49 towards Val Pusteria.
