The autumn fair of Cividale del Friuli with market, flavors, and Luna Park
When autumn colors the banks of the Natisone, Cividale del Friuli prepares for one of its most cherished events: the Fiera di San Martino. For an entire weekend, the historic center transforms into a large open-air market that spans the city, from Borgo di Ponte to Piazza Duomo and Largo Boiani. It's one of those appointments that mark the Cividalese calendar and attract visitors from all the Natisone Valleys and the rest of the province of Udine.
The heart of the event is the large market organized by the Consorzio Ambulanti FVG of Confcommercio: dozens of stalls with products of all kinds, from clothing to crafts, from gastronomic specialties to household items, occupy the streets and squares of the center. The Municipal Administration also invites exhibitors from the Natisone Valleys each year to participate with typical local products, giving the fair a strong local rooting.
The fair is complemented by Sbaracco, the initiative where shops in the historic center bring merchandise out from behind their windows with special offers and discounts: an extra opportunity to stroll through Cividale's shops and make purchases in a widespread festive atmosphere.
To complete the day, the Luna Park, with rides and attractions for children, is set up in Piazza della Resistenza. Among the stalls, the smells of street food, and the comings and goings of families, the Fiera di San Martino retains the authentic flavor of fairs of the past, yet set within the unique backdrop of Cividale, a Lombard city and UNESCO World Heritage site.
Visiting the fair is also an opportunity to discover or rediscover Cividale del Friuli: the Ponte del Diavolo (Devil's Bridge) spanning the Natisone, the Tempietto Longobardo (Lombard Temple), the Duomo, and the alleys of the center provide the ideal setting for a November day of shopping, tradition, and good food, in the heart of eastern Friuli.
The Fiera di San Martino 2026 enlivens Cividale del Friuli on the weekend of Saturday, November 12th, and Sunday, November 13th. The large market of the Consorzio Ambulanti FVG unfolds along the historic center, from Borgo di Ponte to Piazza Duomo and Largo Boiani, alongside the Sbaracco from the center's merchants. The Luna Park for families is set up in Piazza della Resistenza. The participation of exhibitors from the Natisone Valleys with typical local products is also confirmed.
The detailed program with any collateral events will be published by the Municipality of Cividale del Friuli in the weeks preceding the event.
How to get there: Cividale del Friuli is reachable by car from Udine (about 17 km) and by train on the Udine-Cividale line. During the fair, it is advisable to park in the areas outside the historic center, which is closed to traffic.
Admission: the fair and market are free and open to all.
