Fiera Secolare della Madonna di Rogoredo

A fair that has lasted for centuries

The Fiera Secolare della Madonna di Rogoredo is the most anticipated event of the year in Alzate Brianza, in the province of Como. Its origins date back to the 18th century, with documented activity as early as the early 20th century, and it still represents one of the most important livestock fairs in Lombardy. The event is linked to the religious feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, celebrated on September 8th.

Livestock, stalls, and funfair

The traditional heart of the fair is the livestock exhibition and market, particularly cattle, set up in the meadows along Via Santuario towards Brenna. Around the Sanctuary of the Madonna di Rogoredo, over a hundred stalls and commercial stands are set up along Via Santuario and Via per Cantù, while the funfair occupies the square between the two streets. There are also food stands, an agricultural market with vintage tractors, exhibitions, concerts, and stands of local associations.

Between devotion, tradition, and celebration

The Secular Fair is promoted by the Municipal Administration of Alzate Brianza together with a committee of volunteers, with the patronage of the Como-Lecco Chamber of Commerce, the Province of Como, the Lombardy Region, and the Ministry of Agricultural Policies. The event intertwines religious devotion, culture, and entertainment, attracting thousands of visitors and traditionally concluding with a fireworks display.
