A Midsummer Tradition
In Torsa, a hamlet of Pocenia in Bassa Friulana, Ferragosto Torsese has been the highlight of the summer for over half a century; in 2025, it celebrated its 55th edition. Organized by Pro Loco Torsa APS, the festival transforms the village into a grand celebration for five days around Ferragosto, featuring music, gastronomy, tradition, and fun.
Flavors of the Festival
The always-open stalls offer typical Friulian cuisine: large barbecues, calamari, snails, pasta, and gnocchi with assorted sauces. Completing the offerings are the 'bar bianco' (white bar), the brewery with Sauris specialties like hemp beer, and a well-stocked wine bar with cured meats and sausages.
Dancing, Engines, and Fun
The program is packed with popular events: dancing evenings with orchestras and DJs on the characteristic covered steel dance floor, the youth area, charity raffles, the Vesparaduno (scooter rally), the famous 'cuccagna' (greased pole) competition, tombola (bingo), a cycling race, a tractor rally, and the traditional fireworks display to close the festival.
The Heart of the Community
More than just a festival, Ferragosto Torsese is Torsa's great community gathering, the result of the Pro Loco's volunteer work. It's an invitation, as the organizers say, to experience unique moments and authentic traditions in the heart of Bassa Friulana.
Ferragosto Torsese — edition 2026
For 2026, Ferragosto Torsese is renewed in Torsa di Pocenia, organized by Pro Loco Torsa APS. The event, which celebrated its 55th edition in 2025, maintains the established formula of the great Ferragosto festival: five days of food stalls, dancing evenings, popular events, and a final fireworks display.
